No because only treaty nations on our side would abide by them, theres no way to keep a rogue nation like N. Korea from developing them, and with no threat of retaliation they wouldnt hesitate to use them against us. The reason we have them is for MAD (mutually assured distruction). Basically its a mexican standoff. We all have them pointed at one another but no one will pull the trigger because if someone did it would be the end of us all. But should we get rid of them it would just mean the end of us.

No, because just like with gun control you can legislate all the good guys out of their defense but the bad guys will always go around the rules anyways.

Kind of. It would be very nice if everyone would comply with the regulation, but that can not be guaranteed. If there was an EFFECTIVE world gov't, then this would work. In the meantime, we should try to get all nuclear weapons under UN control so if they are used, there will at least be a serious need.

I wish we could get rid of all the stupid things.

They are SO expensive to make, and you can't use them once you make them, so what is the point.

If all the countries in the world put the capital expended in developing and creating nuclear arms into peaceful efforts, the world would be better off.

We still have big guns and other bombs to kill each other. Why wreak the whole planet?
