well my dream is to either be a commercial pilot but like now i really want to join the usaf or the usn.. not really sure but i have glasses!! so i was wandering, can i still have glasses/contacts and become a fighter pilot? ): oh please this is my dream and i am the future (:

You'll probably need to get your vision surgically corrected to be a pilot, but a number of people do it.
And yes, women to get to fly fighters in combat. I know a female F-16 pilot, and she's flown plenty of combat sorties in Iraq.
That said, if you want to be a commercial pilot, why are you interested in fighters? Driving an F-16 of F-18 is nothing like a multi engine heavy...the Air Force has plenty of C-17s, KC-10's, and assorted C-135 (707) variants that fly a lot more like a commercial plane than a fighter. |

I have heard that if you get corrective surgery to 20/20 vision then you will be allowed the same chance to become a pilot as that of anyone else in flight school.
Please someone in the Air Force correct me if I'm wrong, don't want to give this person bad advice!

no. aviators must have 20/20 UNCORRECTED vision. in the Navy you could be a Naval Flight Officer( back seater). NOT a Pilot. |
