withdraw my application they mentioned i get put in a branch rather than me choose what branch i wish to specialize in . i mean i don't want to rejoin just to pass the 32 weeks and be placed as a chef ? any1 know ?

OK to add a little light i applied for the army but decided i want to join the navy and go in the marines hence the reason i phoned up the army to withdraw my app so i can start the navy 1

If you don't contact the army again they can't do anything, so don't bother with them and just ignore anything they send. You haven't joined yet.
If you change your mind again just go back and tell them. They are desperate.
If they don't give you the trade you want, chef, tell them to shove it. Army recruitment is based on what they are short of, what they think you are qualified/able to do, then what you want.
To be honest though you are going to get more campaign medals as a chef in the army than any other trade/branch/corps. Static units use civvy chefs that can't go to war so prepare yourself for a life of 6 months Nafghanistan, 4 months off, 6 months back there. |

im not to sure i was thinking the same not long ago. i think you can apply to specialise in what you want BUT if they do choose for you i think you do that for a a little while then you get to do what you want. its not that bad really if you are thinking about being there for a long time, because the chances are that you will learn to specialise in more than one thing. A good site to find out is www.prmc.co.uk
and you serve 3 years as a general duties marine after the 32 weeks training before you specialise anyway ..........cant wait lol |

If you passout of the 32 weeks training you are sent to a unit for 2 years ie..40 cdm or 42cdm or 45cdm etc so that you are then a trained Royal Marine Commando then and only then you just might get to be a chef. But In my opinion you should worry first about the 32 weeks of training at Lympstone Devon first. And pass out with Kings troop first. As your army training that you went for only 10 weeks long. |
