On mypay how do i do this?

if i wanted to start an allotment for my mom how would i do that? is it a savings allotment or a dependent allotment?

It's a Savings allotment bro. Just make absolutely sure you get the routing and account numbers correct. Too easy. |

It is NOT a savings allotment. It IS a dependent allotment.
You need to do the following to start it.
Go to my pay's main menu.
Click on allotments
Click on the start dependent allotment
Put in the routing number, account number, if it's a checking or savings account and your mothers name. In the Is Allotee a Guardian? question click No.
Click on the save button and another screen will come up that will tell you when the allotment will start. You will receive a email confirmation (to your AKO) that they received your request. You will also get one once it is completed. SAVE those emails until your mother actually gets her first deposit. Also PRINT out the confirmation that you started the allotment. By this I mean the page that shows the conformed bank info and then the one that shows when it should start. You can shred all of it once she is actually getting the payments but you will need this if the payments do not start as proof that you started the allotment so keep them.
BTW for those who say its a savings allotment...
Savings allotments are referred to as non discretionary allotments by DFAS. They consist of the following....
1. Purchase of U.S. Savings Bond
2. Relief repayments
3. Government Indebtedness
4. Charity
5. Child and spousal support
6. Assistance Funds
7. Debts for non-discretionary allotments
8. Involuntary allotments such as payment of delinquent taxes, court ordered payments, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), etc.
Dependent allotments (which are actually defined as discretionary allotments by DFAS are the following....
1. Payments on commercial life insurance premiums
2. Voluntary payments to dependants or other relatives
3. Deposits to financial institutions, mutual fund companies, or investments
4. Mortgage or rent
5. Car loan payments
6. Payments to repay a loan from a loan or finance company
7. Deposits into the Savings Deposit Program
