I need this job. I want the pararescueman life to be my life. Three weeks ago was my very last day of snowboarding and to make a long story short I cased it hard on my shoulder.
I had what I thought was a large bruise on my shoulder but like all injury's I fought through it and I was back on my training schedule 3 days later. Well, my parents saw it when I was visiting and forced me to go to the doctor and the doc diagnosed me with a type 3 ac separation. Well, we got the x-rays back and they didn't find a separation. The thing is, The end of my collar bone is still sticking up in my shoulder and my whole left side collar bone is a 1/2 inch higher than my right side. There isn't much pain anymore and it doesn't hurt my performance in anyway. It is easily noticable with my shirt off and the MEPS ppl would have to be blind not to see it. Please someone tell me that MEPS will not dq me from pararescue for this!???? The doctors said I should be pain free in 4-6 weeks!!?????

If the diagnosis was incorrect, what was the corrected diagnosis? That is what the MEPS doc is going to want to know. If he notices the displacement of your collarbone and brings it up, tell him you went to the doc, had xrays and it's not a problem: no break, no separation, etc. Say no more.
The MEPS doc may ask for the records from you physician. If this is the case, call your recruiter immediately.
In the meantime, if the injury does not impede your performance at the MEPS, it is not a an issue. Much depends on the MEPS doc, if he notices and how he reacts to it. A lot of stuff that goes on at the MEPS is subjective.
If there is an issue at the MEPS, every effort will be made to resolve it. This process will be made a bit easier if you get your recruiter on your side.
But in the end, if your physical performance is not impaired, it's not going to be an issue. Don't be desperate or nervous or neurotic about it. Talk to yourself about how it's okay, how it is not an issue, how everything will be fine. If you go to the MEPS and act hinky and make a big deal out of it, they'll know that something's up. Just be cool and go from there.
