People who want the troops home?
|
Why is it that its always people who have nothing to do with the military saying bring the troops home? Most troops cant stand people protesting for us to come home we wanna do our job. If we are unhappy we will complain we dont need you to do it for us. We joined the military knowing what the consequences of war are. Please stop complaining and just enjoy the freedom you have.

Thank you! Well said! My husband has deployed 5 times to the middle east in his military career, and he is in Iraq now, for our 3rd deployment together. So many people try to speak for me and have NO idea of what I want!!! I want to finish the job. I want my husband to be happy because he is doing HIS job. I want to support the mission. Wanting my husband to come home before the job is done is not supporting the mission.
I have no problem with deployments. My husband is my best friend, my soul mate, my life. We dont have to be side by side 24 hours a day to maintain a close relationship. Phone calls, IMs, care packages, webcams are the means by which we maintain instead of hugs and kisses. I can still love my husband no matter where he is!
So whomever might THINK they are speaking for me in wanting to bring the troops home is NOT. They arent speaking for my husband either....who has a job to do and wants to do it. He joined the military so he could do his job. Sitting around garrison for years is not vision for his military career! Anybody speaking FOR the troops damn well better be one, or have been one. I cant even speak for the troops, but I can speak for my troop. And he would say, "let me stay til the mission is done."
Thanks for asking the question, and it bothers the crap out of me too! |

I would hope everyone wants the troops home. It just becomes a question of at what cost. A lot of people also assume that a soldier goes home when he redeploys. I haven't been stationed at home since I joined the Army. |

The people who protest just don't like our soldiers dying and being hurt.
I don't protest to bring the troops home but i do support the troops :) |

Many will never understand, I think some believe the video games are real. Others can't accept the truth because they think that might make Bush partially right. And we all know that would just be wrong.
I will say to all those in uniform today you have my salute and my prayers.
I will say to all my fellow vets of yesteryear, continue to march. |

Amen! Thank you all for what you are doing and be safe. I would like to see you all come home but I know that there is a job for you to do and am proud of all of you for having the courage to do it. My son served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you again for standing between us and danger and again be safe as possible. |

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not in the military, but my husband is, and it makes me mad that the people who have never had any experience with the military think they are "military experts". I certainly don't know everything about the military, but I support them and their cause. |

it is not the peoples military we are not a communist nation. the government is for the people by the people, not the peoples government. learn how it works. go give orders to a squad of marines see how well it works for you. |

I"m a vet...been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. I'm damn proud to have ridden with the Blackhorse along the Cambodian border in 1969.
I object to our sons and daughters being killed and maimed in Iraq because it was a war that never needed to be fought. There were no WMD's...there was no link betweeen pre-war Iraq and our terrible national tragedy of 9-11.
I love our sons and daughters in the military...my son just ets'd...to ever let them be sacrificed upon the altar of a war that never needed to be fought.
Bottom line is that Bush lied and our soldiers died in a war in Iraq that never needed to be fought. Herr Bush pulled our troops from a necessary war in Afghanistan to tilting windmills in Iraq to further his political agenda.
I pray that people consider my points...not because I give a sh*t about what they think about me...before they thumbs down these facts.
May our respective Gods bless USMCgrlandMommy's and her gallant husband and child.
It is sad to think that the morally bankrupt supporters of Herr Bush will pay lip service to our vets but not allow greater support to them.
I too am a disabled vet. I've done okay. I pray for USMCgrlandMommy's and her husband and family. They deserve much better than they receive from this corrupt administration.
May God bless you dear. |

Well said, Sapper. The problemwith most of these peaceniks, is they don't understand the problem with capitulation. They believe that if we bring the troops back, the war will go away. Not !
They really represent a small minority, because nobody is complaining about the troops being in Afghanistan where insurgent casualty's come in large doses.
If the truth be known, it's the casualty numbers that concern the opposition. As long as we are scoring big numbers of enemy deaths, they seem content. |

I feel the same way. Trust me, there is no place I would rather be right now, than with my 2 boys. But, I'm here, and there's a job to do. My boys understand that, and respect it. Doesn't mean they have to like it though. I wish people would consider the troops more when posting anti-war garbage on here. Lately I've seen a bunch of negative stuff on here about us. We don't make the polisies, we follow them out. We are doing an awesome job over here, and no, it doesn't necessarily hav eto do with Bush and his agenda. It has to do with giving people the freedom to live life as human beings, instead of being under the thumb of a dictator. The things most people stateside would never hear about would amaze them. The schools, the aid, etc. If you want a better view on what we're doing, go to www.starsandstripes.com, no BS there. I honestly wish we could finish our mission, and move on. So just let us. |

Amen to that! I totally agree! I am married to a Marine who is deployed and people here in my town always act so concerned about the military being over in Iraq and such. The problem, they don't have a clue what they're fighting for nor do they have any affiliation with someone in the military who is serving in the war. They only go by what the news tells them. It's annoying. I fully support them and I am glad the troops are over there fighting for us. People don't realize they're saving us from being attacked again! |

If absolutely nothing else, we kicked over the hornet's nest, it's our responsibility to clean up the mess. I happen to think that it a good thing to clear out the nests of vermin, but I recognize that other's don't agree. I wouldn't want to live in their homes, though.
The stress related problems, not PTSD, but something simialr, I have experienced from my deployments has been brought on by the protestors and the white-flag politicians.
If it wasn't important enough to lose lives over, then it wasn't important enough to send us in teh first place, and before too many get indignatnt that they were always against this war, I'm not well disposed to beleive you--there were numbers in the high 70's supporting the idea in 2003.
I have some small respect, at least, for those who were always against it, just for consistence if not good sense. I have nothing but complete contempt, however, for those who have decided against it just because it's not been as easy as they would have liked.
To those who "want us safe," get a grip. Safety is not a part of the job description. We are supposed to accept risk. Time to back off, then if that's your argument, and let us do our jobs. |

Nobody has forced anyone to join the service. Everyone goes in knowing they will more than likely be placed in harms way yet they are willing to serve. Like all wars not everything is perfect or right decisions always made. Isn't it worth the effort to just have the right to complain, in a lot of places you would be shot for just some of the comments made in these answers. And speaking of deaths we kill about 7 teen agers a day in motor vehicle accidents because someone was driving drunk. seems to me the military is the safest of the two |

you have a point. people went into the military knowing that they were signing their life over. but the big question is who is paying for y'all troops to go to war? who is funding the troops to go to war? who is taking our money for the war? the people should have a choice. without us, you wont have a war, where would you get the money? so, to me, i don't care if y'all stay at war for another 20 years, just don't use my money. if i did not support the war then don't take my money. use my money to fight the war that's going on here, in my hometown. where people are getting murder every day. poor people starving and children dieing. so yes, y'all need to come back home or use your own money to fight your own war that doesn't make any sense even going to war for. this war is a bunch of bull and you know it. do your research and dig a little deeper for truth. the truth is always hidden. oh and about freedom, do you honestly believe that if we hadn't gone to war, we wouldn't have freedom. The only people we need to think about taking our freedom away is our own government, who has full control of our lives. every year they seem to get more and more involve in our private lives. pretty soon they will be telling us when to go to the bathroom and when you need to wash. oh, you should know that already because your getting a taste of it right now in the military. so you might like being told what to do all the time. |

if this attitude was true of all the military, then why does ron paul, a candidate who advocates immediate withdrawal from iraq, get the most donations out of any candidate? |

People who say "Pull the troops out now" either are totally ignorant of the situation or have absolutely no concern for the welfare of the Iraqi people.
Right now Iraq has no Army, no Navy, no Air Force. They have no artillery, no tank corps, no anti-aircraft defenses. They are completely incapable of defending themselves against their neighbors (Syria, Turkey, and Iran). To leave them before they can do this is to leave a crippled calf out for the wolves. It will take years for them to rebuild. Until then, it will be up to us and a few others (as the UN will do nothing) to defend them. |

You sound like a phony poster to me. I've been in the military and that's not how soldiers think at all. In fact, the most annoying type of citizen to a soldier is the hyper-patriot. And he's especially annoying when the war is a useless and pointless one that soldiers get stuck in.
No way I am going to let our troops be wasted in Iraq in such a pointless exercise.
If soldiers in Iraq think they are "protecting our freedoms", think again. I'm sorry an incompetent government sent you into another unwinnable war. I know the feeling.
Don't be mad at me. I didn't send you there.
And stop whining. You signed up. I got drafted, I didn't have a choice like you did.
As for Iraq "having no Army" you GOT THAT RIGHT. After 4 years, they still don't know which end of a rifle to shoot from.
Too bad we disbanded the regular Iraqi Army in 2003. Aren't we brilliant? |

We want to dissolve the military so no one needs to die for their corrupt govts. Say what you want but war NEVER solved anything. It just causes countries to change their allies the next time they fight. Listen to John Lennon's song IMAGINE - that is the way the world should be. Why do all you military types want to fight anyhow? Do not tell me you don't want to fight otherwise you would never have joined the military. War is NOT a job it is a crime against all humanity. It is nuts who are so stupid they can't realize that if they (govts), gave a war and nobody came there would be NO MORE WARS. |
