Males and females are separated recruits. They are not in the same barracks.

For support what kind are you asking for? You are going to be trained, disciplined, broken down and then built back up again. There is going to be long days and nights, little sleep, lots of exercise and everything else necessary to prepare you for the military.

I've recently signed up for the Marines and am shipping to Parris Island this summer. Yes, the quarters are separated between males and females. And yes, individuals are very well monitored and looked after during recruit training. As far as the first few weeks, they're the worst. But after the initial phase is complete, the purpose of the recruit training changes to build up the recruits as a single unit. Also, in case you haven't been told already...There is a buddy system that can be used to assure that two people will be sent to the same unit at the same time for training. I don't know many of the details, but I know a bunch of my older friends have done it and say it's a great way to go. You should get in contact with the recruiter for your area if you really want some one-on one answers. They're not there to convince you, but to give you the answers that you want, so no worries. ;)

-Also, as far as supports...The Delayed-Entry Program is a good way to go if you've got the time...It's basically a once-a-month program that will help to prepare you for recruit training, and help you get better accustomed to the physical demands as well as the mental demands of recruit training. (again, ask your local recruiters for more detailed info.)

Yes you are separated for living dorms but may train together. Marines are not co-ed training as far as I know. Never seen a girl though. It is men and women that serve. Don't worry the DI's will support you and motivate you. Hell you may even get lucky and have a GI Party.
