That's not a very fair question. There are a few nuclear states that would have trouble matching our arsenal, but that's besides the point. Contrary to popular belief, Nukes are not made to launch. Well, they are, but the chances of that are slim. It's called mutually assured destruction. If anyone fires a nuke, we shoot back. We might be destroyed, but so would they, eliminating a nuclear attack as an option viable to any but the most fanatical terrorist groups. This fact keeps nukes off the bargaining table.

Actually the real question is what will you do when Muslim Terrorists obtain nuclear weapons from Iran, smuggle those weapons into the United States and detonalte those nuclear weapons in large cities?

The premise of the American and Russian nuclear arsenals were and are simple-MAD Mutual Assured Destruction-in other words any one starts a nuclear war then everyone loses so no one believes America would win a nuclear war; any more then Russia, France, Britain, Israel, China, India or Pakistan could win one. No one wins a nuclear war.

In a nuclear war you would have a nuclear winter, countless areas of radiated land, the destruction of nearly the entire human race and more then likely the destruction of nearly the entire natural world. So if anyone thinks that they would win in a nuclear war then they are very delusional and more then likely in denial as well.

Times have changed & the nuclear standoff of the cold war served it's purpose.
The doctrine of mutually assured destruction worked by making full scale nuclear war unthinkable
These days I'm sure there are a few countries that would love to see us nuked & possibly even aid in a terrorist act as long as they could not be connected to it.
Even then I doubt that there would be nuclear retaliation.

fisrt of all an average megaton blast woul obliterate a city resource would be redirected to recovery programs on both sides the lives lost would be unimaginable the two countrys would face iconomic clapse and famine becuse of radiation the answer is no one
