Possibly joining Army ROTC my first semester of college. What are the steps of this and what do I do?

I'm starting my first semester of college starting August and I was planning on joining the Army ROTC.
What kind of steps do I have to take to join the Army ROTC? Is it just a sign up and PT, or is there a form of boot camp involved to get the uniform and join ROTC?
Does anyone know if it cost? Such as the uniforms?

PS: After the semester is over I was planning on joining the Marine Corps :)

What you should do is look up the ROTC web site at whatever college you may be attending. Get in contact with them and discuss or set up a meeting in the first few weeks of school (that way you can learn the drills and everything along with all the other MS-1's). There will be some paperwork to fill out which will include a 104-R (basically planning out how the ROTC will mesh with you schedule all throughout college). Also, you will need to get an Army physical and eye test which they should set up for you. If you are planning on contracting for the 4-year scholarship then yes you will have to do some testing( try to do this asap because the scholarships are very competitive). Your "boot camp" is taught to you throughout your college career by taking Military Science classes(they are 1 credit humanity classes=easy A).The Mil S class includes a lab in which you learn tactics and improve leadership. Also you participate in Field Training Exercises (FTX) several times a semester. This is all leads up to the LDAC later on. You should not have to pay for your uniforms at all, mine were simply issued to me. If you have question feel free to send me a message, I'll be glad to help. Good Luck!
