Does a Battalion Commanding Officer have the power to over ride naval medical officers and send an Active duty Marine back into a training company?

yes but it come to certain risk for him and the chain of command ,lets say a naval medical officer says im sick and i cant PT and gives me sickcall sheet thats a recommendation for the Battalion Commanding Officer which its most likely approved but he can also refused it.. if he thinks your fine but if you get sicker or something happens to you because of the medical condition he ignore ,he most likely can kiss his career goodbye, thats why alot of officers will not against a medical recommendation
but sometimes alot of Marines are dushbags and keep getting days off by going to the sickcall and faking it so they dont go to PT .so if you chain of commands knows about this and know your are faking it they can do something about it like overriding a naval officer. |
