Pushups in the Army?

You better be able to do 130 with one arm behind your back in less than a minute or the DI's will step on your head like a bug! Then you can do 50 one armed pull ups after you low crawl with your face firmly attached to the hot asphalt every inch of the way! Five minute miles all the way can't stop, won't stop, airborne! 20 miles can't stop, won't stop airborne! You ran everywhere within the company area,you didn't get caught walking! Unless they've had plastic surgery you can still tell who had to do the low crawl even today! Try doing push ups where you have to slap your hands together each time for the count! We used to toss telephone poles back and forth at chest height! I asked for an extra swallow of bug juice and they said if I gave them an additional 300 push ups I could have one swallow! You guys are such wimps today! What a bunch of whining complaining lazy bums! Find a back bone for Christs sake!

If you can do 130 'good' (ie, army standard) pushups in 2 minutes, you're way ahead of the power curve. How are your sit-ups and 2-mile run time? Do a search for the APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test) and look up the current standards.

Go to GOARMY.com to find out factual info, best bet on your push-ups is you will do fine. None of my younger friends who were in the Army never said anything about doing over 100 push-ups.

200? Not for the APFT, to pass the APFT, depending on the age group you are in, you will need around 50 in 2 minutes. For my first platoon sergeant, the number was much higher than your 200. For everytime we got dropped by this SSG, it was 1000 pushups. Don't have a pen..too bad...1000....dont have your boots shined...1000.

You can look up the requirements, as they are done by an "age curve" by doing a google on APFT.

Nope,it all depends on your age group. for example, a male soldier 17 to 21 years old needs to do 42 push ups in 2 minutes to pass and 71 to max.

im in the army, first of all the requirement is NOT that high. for women it is 18! for men it is around 45. plus to join and enlist you dont have to do any psh ups, just be able to pass a physical, in basic and in order to pass basic you must be able to do the amount of pushups listed above.

Man if you can do 130 pushups you already meet the requirements for special forces. Don't stress too much just keep up your fitness and work on your running situps and pull ups.

army basics isn't as intense as the marines basics. you could look on the armys official website and find the requirement, then work on a goal.

Not only are they wanting 200 pushups but they are the manly pushups not the girly ones. You can't bend your knees and you have to have both hands tied behind your back.

It depends-- it is a timed test so its how many you can do (proper form) in two minutes, not overall. I know the females requirement but not the males. You should contact your local recruiting office and ask them.
There is also a sit up, 2 mile run and pull up requirement.

200 pushups? Um... nah. I think you have to do 47 in 1 or 2 minutes to enlist as an E-2, run 2 miles in 16:30 and 50-ish situps. Nothing crazy like that 200 figure. Where the hell did you get that from?

around 700. If your only able to do 130 you might not make it through the "intense" training that the army provides.
