Question about Military/college?

so here is my predicament, right now i live in Indiana and got accepted to both The Citadel and a couple of other schools. I really want to attend The Citadel after i visited the place and loved the structure of it. I was thinking about joining the Guard and do the basic over summer and AIT the next summer. The mos I was dead set on was 35M (HUMINT) and i just found out today that the AIT for that is 17 weeks, which exceeds summer by a month or two so id really like to hear your input on what i should do.

i was trying to enlist in the national guard for money for school (and i wanted to serve anyways), as they havnt yet given me a ROTC scholarship so i wont necessarily be going officer

According to my brother who is a graduate, you can receive excused leave for a few weeks if you are doing something Military related. You should talk to your recruiter or your ROTC leader.

AIT would be a waste for you. You are becoming an officer. Whatever MOS you train for at AIT will not be an Officer MOS. Why would you train for a job you won't be doing?

There comes a time in life where you must make a decision. Especially going into the officer side of the house, you will need to decide which is more important. Do you want to go to AIT and get training for a job which you will never use since you are going ROTC and delay school by an entire year, or at least go to BCT and then begin your time at the citadel?
