Question about getting Military Housing?

I just got married last month. My husband is stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany but is currently deployed in Iraq. My parents live Germany also (Dad is retired and works as a civilian for the military). I will be going back to Germany next month seeing that I only came back to the states to get married, but my parents aren't letting me stay with them. First question is, since i have no place to stay will they be able to get me temporary housing that day or at least with in a few days?
And the second question is what all do I have to do to get housing? I know I have to get on to DEERS and I need to get Command Sponsored by my Husband getting the DA Form 4187 filled out, but what other paper work will I be having to fill out after that? (I have a general POA so I should be able to take care of any paperwork in his name right?)

I already know HE has to put me in DEERS and that HE has to get me command sponsored I alreadi said that was taken care of. I'm askin wut should b taken care of AFTER those two things

Actually your wording is quite confusing. Do you have a Military ID or no? Is the General POA the only one you have? Had the command sponsorship paperwork only been submitted or has it actually been approved? Do you have orders that say with dependent travel authorized?
You can't do anything when it comes to DEERS or to command sponsorship he has to submit it and then it just a waiting process for it to be approved. Housing will NOT give you anything until it's been approved and you have actual orders that say with dependents authorized in hand. Also they will NOT take a general POA, they will want a special POA that states you can sign for housing.
ETA: Without command sponsorship they will NOT let you apply for housing. The waiting lists are long there so you wouldn't be able to just walk in and get a house anyways. |

after you do all the paperwork, if they don't have a house open for you they have to put you in TLF if you have nowhere else to go. it can take weeks or even months to open up a house. you can always contact the housing office and ask them directly, it works a lot better than hearsay. that way when you get there you have everything ready.

HE has to enroll you in DEERS, you cannot do that. And then he needs to get the command sponsorship taken care of before they will deal with you. Again, HIM not you! If you are not command sponsored, then they are not obligated to find you a place to live or even to allow you to stay in lodging on base.
As for your POA - a general POA will get you absolutely no where. You need specific ones to deal with each and every issue and agency. Military bases haven't dealt with generals for years. |

start with enrolling in deers and all that... and it will be a lil difficult since yous never had housing and he is not going to be there.. but you should just roll up.. tell them you need housing.. and they should treat you just like you was a soldier.. get you some where to live asap.. if that dont work.. he should be getting paid bah since yous got married.. you might have to get a cheap appartment and pay rent.. |
