Question about the Army and the Marines?

Is it true that in the Marines if you want to be in a certain job like in the Infantry they might put you in something else like as a cook or something? And that in the Army you can choose your job and they will put you in there? 2 Army Recruits told me this and i am thinking about joining the Army instead of the Marines for this very reason.

By the way if i join i want to serve as Infantry.

if you go using Open Contract option you get whatever the Military needs doesn't Mater if its USMC,Army and so on..

but if they promised you infantry in your contract and its is writing you pretty much are gonna be infantry no matter what.

You can get infantry in your contract in the Marines, you can get anything in your contract in the Marines (Mostly), however the needs of the Corps usurp the needs of the individual, which is why they call it "Service."

A lot of people who tell stories about picking infantry, then ending up as a cook, probably went in as open contract or didn't carefully read their contract before signing. It's harder to get into the Marine Infantry than the army infantry, but there are definatly spots available.

Unless you are really dumb and unathletic you will not be stuck in a rear echelon job like a cook or supplier. About 60% of Marine Recruits get Infantry as their MOS. Are you a good shooter?, because if you are they wont waste your talents elsewhere
