I just asked a similar question but was not clear. I was in the navy for 5yrs got out did 2 in reserves(didn't like it, all the bs, none of the fun).
I'm now in the union ironworkers (foreman) in chicago 9yrs. I make $43.30hr so going back in as an e-5 (ams2) would be a pay cut. the recruiter told me I could come in as an e-6 in the cb's because of my current job. if I do my 20 in the navy I can get out and work iron part time. or stay on the iron till I'm 65 for my full pension?
Do you think going back in to get my 20 is a good idea? and what do you know about the CB rating? specifically SW2 SW1

CE2 as a seabee what do you guys build? I'm a stuctural ironworker, I connect alot and weld. seabee's probable tie a lot of rods is that right.

if you did not leave as an E-6 when you were discharged, i highly doubt they would be able to bring you back as an e-6 active duty unless you mean in the reserves. if you mean in the reserves, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea, if he could bring you back as an active e-6 then thats a good idea too. but, ultimately its your choice, see if this is what you really want. |
