Question about the united states army and claymores...?

has the U.S. army currently or ever has used claymores?if so in what type of situations do they use them in?

Actually we really don't train on them extensively anymore nor do we really use them. They can be used for ambushes or in defensive positions, but there really isn't a need for that type of weapon anymore. Unless we get into some type of maneuver war with N. Korea I don't think we will ever use them again. Too destructive, too much potential for civilian casualties on the battlefield we are seeing these days.

Uh...we invented them. And yes we still use them and train on them extensively. They are a wonderful defensive and ambush weapon that lend themselves to a variety of uses.

This is a basic skill that every Soldier and Marine must qualify on in Basic or Boot.

Yes the American army have the M18A1 Claymore still in service since 1960...??? this is used mainly in ambushes, and as a defence precaution against enemy infintry.

It has a range of of about 100 metres, and fires out toward the front at a 60 degree arc

The US military uses the M18A1 claymore antipersonnel mine. They are used against enemy personnel or some soft skinned vehicles when setting up an ambush.
