Marine till Death
 |
Marines earn their blood stripe when they become NCO's(non-commissioned officers) and that is E-4 and above. E-4 is a corporal(backbone of the Corps by the way) Officers also wear the blood stripe. The stripe is in honor of the battle of Chapultepec Mexico in which, I believe, 90% of casualties were officers and NCO's. As for twenty years to make Sgt? No, 4-7 tops, and 7 is pushing it. |

Not true. You get it when you make Corporal
(NCO). The 20 years to make Sgt is off by about 15 years. |

PORKULUS IS RUSH'S REAL NAME

If it takes anyone 20 years to make E-5, then he's probably been busted a couple of times and maybe even spend a few tics in the brig.
Sgt is normally made in 4-7 years, and 7 is stretching it!
Blood Stripe (not strip) is worn by non-commissioned officers, warrant officers and commissioned officers. With that in mind, a Corporal is an NCO, therefore that is when you get your stripe; E-4.
Sounds like your friend's been talkin out the side of his a** ... |

The Marine Corps has a rule that if you don't pick up Staff Sgt. in 13 years they kick you out. So obviously what your friend said is not true. The amount of time it actually takes to pick up Sgt. varies by MOS and personal achievement. Some people get it in 2 years, some have to wait 8 years. You get your blood stripe when you first become a non-commissioned officer, which means when you are promoted to Corporal . |

Once you become a corporal you get the blood stripe. I picked up Sgt in 3 years and made Ssgt in 8 years, total i have been in 9 years. At 20 years you shouuld be retiring. |

Blood STRIPE at Cpl since you are NCO. It doesn't take 20 years. My hubby just made Sgt at 4 years and 9 months. When you pick up all depends on several factors. These factors include: what your MOS (job) is, how well you conduct yourself, how well you apply leadership / knowledge skills, and what rank you get when you leave boot camp. |

Your is smoking that funny stuff again. You don't get your blood stripe until you make sergeant, but it doesn't take that long. I was in for four years and was up for sergeant. My son who got out of the Corps a few years ago was up for sergeant, also. Where is your friend getting all his information from? |

It does not take 20 years. My hubby made SGT in less than 6. Blood Stripe is something they do to a new SGT. |
