My bible says: "Thou shalt not Murder" The King James and the Douay translations do say "Thou Shalt not Kill", but the commandments were not written in English, they were originally written in Hebrew.
In Hebrew, the verb "harag" means "to kill." However, the verb that appears in the Torah's prohibition is "ratsah" which refers only to criminal acts of killing. Therefore "Murder" is a more correct translation.
"Murder" is defined as the UNLAWFUL taking of a human life with MALICE AFORETHOUGHT. Therefore killing in wartime in accordance with the Geneva Convention, in self defense, executions, abortions, suicide and euthanasia are not violations of the commandment because they are either done lawfully or without malice. Similarly, killing animals is not prohibited by the commandment because they are not human. |

Question for you ... Who is going to keep you from being killed?...If you sleep well at night, who. if anybody, do you think is responsible?
Happiness is sleeping under the watchful gaze of an AC-130 or an Apache attack helo.
By the by, God never said 'surrender.or 'don't defend yourselves.
Our military and our allies are the best - period. |

I will quote the Bible for this one: Ecclesiastes 3
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
TIME TO KILL, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
time to love, AND A TIME TO HATE; A TIME OF WAR, and a time of peace. |

I'm assuming your referring to the 10 Commandments...If so then "Thou shall not kill" refers to murder. If it is indeed the 10 Commandments that your referring to then you should check out Deuteronomy 20:1 When you go into battle against the enemy...be not afraid for the Lord the God is with thee. Bottom line is "We" the military don't want to "Kill" anyone however "We" will defend ourselves and Our Country with OUR lives to preserve the very freedom that YOU are enjoying at this very moment. |

"Thou shall not do no murder" Mathew 19:18
Get it right before you come on here running your mouth and putting down the men and women who stand up and fight for your right to live in this country and to be free.
What would you have the soldiers do...stand there and be bombed and shot at and do nothing to protect themselves?
They have a job to do and I support our Soldiers 100%!!!!!
What would you do if someone came running at you with a bomb strapped to them? Let them blow you up? What if they were shooting at you? Would you let them shoot you before you could shoot them? I think not.
Oh yea.... by the way the bible also states...."Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, hand for a hand, foot for foot" Exodus 21:24 |

The bible actually says the word murder not kill so, In war we are not murdering people. The bible even backs war and genocide, so all you god fearing people should think about that. Modern translations are not 100% correct.

You are actually calling god a murder with this question. In the bible god himself led his army in several wars. |

Question for you:
Ever read the parts in the Bible where God killed the enemies of the Hebrew people?
Where Joshua slayed the Philistines (with God's help)?
Where David killed Goliath?
Num 31:3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
1Sa 19:8 And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
Psa 144:1 [A Psalm of David.] Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, [and] my fingers to fight:
Proverbs 20:18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
And here is the final argument I will make:
Ecc 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A TIME OF WAR, and a time of peace.
Better do a little more Bible studying before you try to argue with it. |

Freedom isn't free.
The soldiers on the ground don't decide who the enemy is....we didn't decide to let 3000sum civilians to be killed back on 9/11.
If i have to kill someone or be killed for my country....just tell me when and where and I will be there. I will call my self a christain....but with that being said...i will defend freedom no matter what the cost.
I'd like to reverse that back to you.... if the military didn't fight the enemy......what do you think the world...your freedom.....what would you have? Would you still be alive?? 99% of america doesn't know what they have....1%...that 1% represents all military members....who know what and why we are fighting. |
|

freedom_isn't free

What part of that do the terrorists not understand? Doesn't the Bible (which you quoted) mention something about an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth? And didn't David kill Goliath who was trying to overpower the people? And isn't there stories about how God helped His people win battles? Of course I cannot change your opinion but I suggest that you think of your freedom that you might possibly be taking for granted? |
