Is it protocol for recruiters to ask you in depth personal information, such as your social security number, mothers maiden name, etc? If it isn't, who would I report this to? Any input or insight is appreciated. Thanks.

yes that is the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for the interviewing process to be in the Military.. all the branches will ask pretty much the same questions. |

If you're signing up for the service, then it's vital information that the government needs for your enlistment. If you haven't enlisted yet, then I wouldn't be giving it. |

To apply for the Military you hav to give him this Information. It goes on you application. They use this to run a background check on you when you get in. |

If you're enlisting or filling out any paperwork, it is. A lot of times you can check the paperwork and you will find some form of privacy act or security label that ensures your information is protected.
A lot of times when you enlist you will be asked indepth questions for security background check. |

Yes. They need to prove and confirm your identity in addition to checking your background. If you have any issues, ask to talk to the Staff Non Commissioned Officer In Charge of your recruiting district. He/she is in charge of all the recruiters in that area. |
