Well, I signed up for Army JROTC in high school for next year (I am in 8th grade). I have some questions. One, i'm kind of a nerd (not very athletic) I can run VERY fast but I can hardly do 4 push ups. Is this going to be bad? Do I need to work on upper body strength? Thats about all.

i was in your same position in high school, jrotc is more about learning DNC(marching) and about learning some of the things the army will teach you.
if you plane on joining the army after highschool its an excellent way to get a head start for basic training. and if you stay in for 3 or 4 years they will bump you up to PFC before you even ship off to basic.
they dont usually do alot of physically demanding stuff in jrotc so i wouldnt worry about that too much. |

You should work on your upper body strength if you plan on serving after high school, but as for JROTC by itself it really is not a big deal. |

JROTC is a joke. Its just a class, don't worry about it bro. Its no different than PE. If you're considering the military, stay in for 3 years at the least. And just enjoy it, its a great course. Just remember that its NOTHING like the real military. |
