Im dead set on going into the AF once i get my B.A. The thing is i will have my B.A. in Criminal Justice. I want to become a security forces officer and apply for OSI later (thats the plan anyway) I am currently a sophmore in college and cant join ROTC b/c i play on the womens basketball team, i got a full ride scholarship so i cant stop playing. Its paying for my education.

right now i have over a 3.0 with 2 yrs left to go. What are the chances of getting selected to go to OTS and become an officer in the AF?

If i dont get selected from what i understand i can enlist as an E-3, right? I want to be in security forces regardless. Can i still apply for OSI as an E-3?

yes i understand a 3.0 isnt good enough. but im only a sophomore so if i keep my grades up it will be much higher by time i graduate. i have 2 years left

A 3.0 will not get you selected for Air Force OCS

It is just not competitive enough.

You will need around a 3.5 GPA

Why can you not enroll in AFROTC ?

There are plenty of scholarship athletics enrolled in ROTC programs.

Yes, with a degree you can enlist as an E-3,

You cannot enlist for OSI in the Air Force, it is not an entry level job.

You have to be an E-4 with three years active duty service time before you can apply for OSI.

3.0 on a sports scholarship should be enough to get you in with a commission as an officer. They will understand the rigors of playing and practice impacting your grades..... especially if this is Division I.

If the Air Force won't offer you a commission then try the Army, Navy and Marines. Believe me, going in as enlisted is NOT the way to go when you've got a degree.

Keep your grades as high as you can.

The air force is very competitive right now and has been for years. They have too many people. Yeah its true unfortunately even with a 3.0 its hard to get into OTS. Yeah you have a better shot of enlisting. The way security forces in the air force is there are a lot of enlisted personel but very few officers. Also keep in mind the air force continues to undergo personel cuts cause their budget keeps getting smaller and smaller. Its hard to get in and hard to stay in. Browse around at what the army has to offer. Its real easy to get into army ocs. But being branched mp can be hard at ocs.
