Why do you protest and speak against the US Military when a handful of soldiers commits a crime in a warzone, but we never hear of you protesting or speaking against the crimes of terrorists and insurgents who cut off the heads of civilians and soldiers, or detonate improvised explosive devices against both civilians and soldiers?
Why do you never acknowledge or give even the smallest amount of praise to the good things that the coalition does in Iraq?
Why do you never acknowledge the good things that the United States does in the world as a whole?

Because the negative fits their agenda, they don't want us there so they focus on the negative, people that want us there only focus on the posive. It goes both ways. You don't hear many people that are totally gung hoe on this war talking about Abu Ghrab, or any other mistakes, in the same respect you do not hear people that want us out acknowledging the recent WMDs, or the fact that food is getting to the people for the first time in years. or the pride when they have gone to vote.
I think what every one seems to forget is that the Iraqi people don't want us there anyt longer then we need to be, however most people understand that they need our help to get rid of the FOREIGN insurgence. These people are not fighting for Iraq, they are fighting against a non muslim country, and to gain a strong hold to run their terrorist organizations from.
Beach bum pull your head out of the sand. What country was the first to provide troops to protect people after the tsunami? What country gave the most money? what country warned them it could happen and was blown off? You are only looking at the most recent. We actually do a better job helping the rest of the world then we do our own country. We did more, and faster for the tsunami victims then we have for the gulf coast. |

Activists protest for many reasons...mostly its the loved ones of the fallen troopers who dont like to see their husbands/wives/sons/daughters gunned/bombed/RPG'ed by the filthy terrorists, some dislike the way the war is going now ('cause the US president is an idiot who probably has no idea of how to win a war), some are outraged by the apparent deception that Bush used to convince (a.k.a. lie) people about the rightness of the war when it was so blatantly obvious that invading Iraq was not only wrong morally, but that Iraq was nothing when Iran and North Korea were and still are the real threats to the world, others think of the ulterior motives of Bush (note I use Bush + Cheney and cabal, not the American People). Others perhaps protest cause they are weak and afraid (I bet these same people would not put up even the slightest resistance should the USA be invaded by the Islamists or even the Chinese).
As for acknowedgement...USA troops are expected by all people in the world to be more or less civil in conduct, so when they see one idiot GI screw up bad they will react. Terrorists, whether islamic or otherwise are expected to be barbaric because thats the stereotype already, no need for condemnation cause its already expected. Those who react to the stupid GI still hate the terrorist scum, but they are disappointed by the GI's descent to the level of scum. I think Franklin D. Roosevelt said it best when he said that people eventually forget that the freedoms they enjoy now came because people died for them...no one notices the good things that come from the USA (though that has dropped sharply since Bush became president) because everyone is used to it...take it all away quickly and everyone will beg for the US (or someone else) to do something. |

Come on!
What are you looking for here? Sounds cosy doesn't it - commit a crime in a war zone! It was cold blooded calous murder from all the reports.
Such acts do immeasurable harm to the standing of the United States and gives help succour and motivation to the insurgents, rebels and terrorists to kill americans.
Only by good Americans everywhere speaking out against it and the government taking the proper court action and correct sentences can anything be done to try and mitigate the damage.
This isnt simply about human rights it is about whether you have any humanity at all.
American soldiers are over there with many other countries soldiers in a war zone. It does not confer the right for them to kill innocent civillians.
US soldiers killing just one innocent civillian completely overshadows practically all the good the vast majority of it's troops do and as I said gives justification to your enemies to carry the fight even harder to you.
Never hear about people protesting or speaking out against the crimes of the terrorist. I take it you have no radio, not TV, don't read the papers and don't talk to other people. Where are you hiding? Why do you think think all the different countries soldiers, aid agencies and others are doing out there? Just how much more do they have to do before you recognise that a large part of the world is against this and doing something about it.
As for what the States does good for the world as a whole I would be interested to hear what you think is being ignored.
Whilst America gives the largest sum in aid annualy this is in %terms of countries wealth about the smallest contribution made. The aid is also very partisan.
The aid agencies and their staff going into these countries are almost all non american.
America is in there doing a good job but so are a lot of others and none of them are seeking praise for what they do. British soldiers were charged with offences in Iraq and dealt with and Britain was praised for it. Why do you think Americans should be treated differently?
This handful of soldiers you speak off committed a capital crime bringing shame on their comrades and country and putting their comrades at further risk of death and injury. There is not another country in the world that would seek to praise something their country did before condeming such acts wholeheartedly.
The vast Amount of Americans I am sure feel just the same way. |

1.) Americans speak our language already, and are our "fellows" that we communicate with all the time, and are the ones that are the cause of the start and of the reason for the continuation of the war. It takes two sides to stop a war but one side to start it and we did the starting. If we withdrew it would be one less reason for them to hate and attack us, out of their fear and feeling of being offended by our violence.
2.) I do denounce the actions of the terrorists when they do act. But when you see American troops day by day occupying THEIR country and they're fighting to get it back, it makes me wonder whether they have any choice. |

It is because they are STUPID and do not understand that their very act of complaining is afforded to them not just by the military, but by the conservatives that weild the military in such a way as to make us the toughest kids on the block. They talk like what they are, the children and grandchildren of dead heros who never had the chance to slap them and set them straight, because they were too busy dying to ensure their freedom.
Best wishes!

Try taking care of your own side of the street before worrying about others.
The US military is employed by We the People. If they are commiting attocities in our name, we have an obligation to speak out and correct it.
What good has been done in Iraq in the first place? This invasion has resulted in the fact that the country is now a theocracy, with Sharia law. You call that democracy? Not hardly. |

Mate, 200,000 Iraqi civillians killed by the US army is never a good thing. Not even Saddam the butcher killed so many. PLUS the US Army KNEW of the terrorist attacks and the thousands more innocents that would be killed as a result of sectarian violence. But they went to war anyway!
So ask yourself the question: who is the REAL butcher? Who is the real terrorist?
.....and for all you ex-military out there who think dying for your country is a good thing just think about this: We'll all remember you for ONE minute (no more) on rememberance day. Hell, you guys aren't even looked after when you come back home!
So ask yourself this question: what am I REALLY dying for????
You'll pull out before the job is completed. Bush will move out of office. His replacement will pull out of Iraq, and all your comrades will have died for nothing, just like in Vietnam. But, thanks for your sacrifices anyhow. It's nice to know there are people dying for my freedoms (which is the usual patriotic rhetoric you hear on D-Day commemorations etc etc). |

Question 1) because this 'means' will never justify this 'end' no matter how good this 'end' result is. Also you daily hear about the reason we invaded Iraq as though they were righteous. When we do atrocities such as the terrorists that nullifies our righteouness.
Question 2) Once agains you can not praise any good of an 'end' when the 'means' were not justified.
Quesiton 3) Good the USA does for the world as a whole? The only one I have seen is the Bush administration giving funds to AIDs research. Other than that, what the administration has done is alienate the rest of the world from us = no good for us in the end. |

We are not terrorists. We expect terrorists to act with hatred and evil. We labor under the belief that we as Americans are BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!
No American should be allowed to fall to the level of evil that these terrorists display. No American!
If we allow ourselves to become what we are fighting, why are we fighting? If we become tyrants to fight tyranny, why are we fighting?
WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT. We should EXPECT better than that of our troops. |
