Quick question: would BMT get cancelled because of the Swine Flu going around?

I leave for Basic May 26th and as days go by the swine flu infection rate is getting worse ''/ & being that Lackland AF base is right next to the mexican border- i am very worried. Would the USAF postpone BMT until the epidemic clears up? or at least controlled?

EDIT*** im worried i wont be able to go to basic and will be stuck here longer waiting to start my Air Force career.im not worried about being sick ha. ill have the best doctors on stand by if i get sick at basic

You're going to catch something because you have everyone in the United States congregating in one spot. Everyone is bringing their own area sickness to pot, and so if you have a weak immune system, you're screwed.

And quit worrying about Swine Flu, the reason everyone is scared about it is because its a new disease and we don't know all the details about it. If the base gets an infection, there are procedures in place that will resolve it.

NEWSFLASH! You are joining the MILITARY!!!

Try Second Lt's who just got out of medical school, have almost zero chance of getting sued, and learn based on trial and error.

Besides, in basic the doctors dont really give a rats butt because most soldiers are faking anyways.

To start off ... WWI was before the USAF even existed. And that's assuming that you could make any comparisons between the medical we get now compared to WWI medical.

Moving on, military medical isn't that bad. But Air Force medical really doesn't give a rats *** about airmen. In fact, it seems to me the entire system is designed to tacitly support malingering while pushing people through some of the easiest training imaginable (including their "tech" schools... which, in fact, are far behind the Navy's.)

Good luck dealing with whatever you get at Lackland. Even if it's not swine flu, you're guaranteed to get something. Which is rather odd considering that in a 13-week boot camp my platoon only passed around a minor cold. I suspect the Air Force has a major hygiene problem in boot camp... the one place where there should *never* be any hygiene issues.

Don't be silly, it would actually be acceptable if they lost a few soldiers in training, in fact that is going to happen anyway. Hell, during WWI we lost twice as many people to the Spanish flu than to the actual war, but that didn't slow down the war any.

Besides, you probably want to be in the military if a pandemic hits because of the free health care, and if there are any vaccines created for this, you know the military will be the first to get them.
