Requirements for Permissive PCS? ( military ) please help!?

i am a first term airman and have been in the military for a year now. I was trying for join spouse and they said i had to be at my first station for 12 months. I was then told about Permissive PCS where you pay your way to switch bases. Does anyone know how to go about doing that and also if i would even be eligible for it? if not does anyone know how i would be able to get with my spouse sooner or any way around the system to do joint spouse before my 12 month mark on this base? please help all information is needed . . .I would really like to be able to get with my husband. thanks :)

I got a permissive PCS in the Air Force way back in 1982.

You'll have to go to your First Sergeant and start there. Without his recommendation, it's gonna be very difficult to proceed. Then you need to get as much supporting documentation as you can - you may want to get a recommendation from a clergyman, chaplain or marriage counselor. The you submit all of your documentation and present your case. If you're approved, you'll still have to wait until there is an opening for your specialty at the other duty station, and you'll have to pay your own relocation expenses.
