Seriously, how friendly is friendly fire?

it isnt friendly at all killing someone is not friendly it is an oxymoron. Friendly fire is is a term originally adopted by the British Armed Forces in reference to an attack on friendly forces by other friendly forces,[1] which may be deliberate (e.g. incorrectly identifying the target as the enemy), or accidental (e.g. missing the enemy and hitting "friendlies"). Friendly fire is contrasted with fire originating from enemy forces ("enemy fire"). In a friendly fire incident personnel may be killed, or material assets may be damaged or destroyed. Friendly fire is one kind of collateral damage. The term friendly fire is also a classic oxymoron and a military euphemism.

The U.S. refers to these incidents as blue on blue,[2] which derives from military exercises where NATO forces were identified by blue pennants, hence "blue" and Warsaw Pact forces were identified by orange pennants

Friendly fire is ussually deadly the only time you hear about it is when someone dies when in fact it happens quite often .I was in a night convoy of trucks once when we were fired upon by our own Artillery of whom we were attatched to and they knew what we were doing but some idiot officer gave an order to fire .A junior officer with not enough experience luckily no one was hurt but what soldier does not obey an order from an officer not any would be my guess.

lol was just thinking bout that... i think its when 2 friendly sides fire at each other (mainly coz they just dont know who the other is) watever the case may be the bullets still hurt

friendly states that it comes from your friends. it is not feature of the bullets.. shells are not friendly or enemy, only those "incoming" and "delivered"

Friendly fire is about as friendly and enemy fire, but at least you know that they didn't mean to shoot at you if they knew better.

Friendly fire just sounds better then "being shot and killed by the guy, I did basic training with and shared barracks with for 5 months who had piss poor eye sight".
