The Air Force is not that much different from the other services and BMT should be taken seriously with physical fitness as a main part of the overall BMT. I should hope that people who can not hold their own physically will not be allowed to remain in the service. |

If your unfit, you will have a hard time for awhile.
The Air Force runs as much as thhe Army does in Basic and alot more than the Navy does.
People see the PT test and think thats the maximum you do.
But thats the mininum you do, |

Dude im leaving in june for AF BMT. i can do 80 pushups non stop, 60 situps, 15 pull ups, and run my 1.5 mile in 8:50's...about 45 days ago i was a heavy pot smoker and probably couldn't do half of those i listed. If you have the drive you will be fine. I have drive and look at me. To better your run you'll need to run sprints. EX: Sprint 30 seconds, walk a lap, Sprint 30 seconds, walk a lap and so on and so on. This is the best way to increase your run time for long distance. Most ppl think that running long distant will increase your long distant run, but the Sprinting technique will work better and faster. All the other stuff don't worry about it. Thats what basic is for, to build you up. Being in shape before you go in is just ideal so you don't feel like your dieing when you do have to do PT for the first time. As long as you have a week left before you leave you have enough time to increase everything before you go. Good luck. |
