On humanitarian grounds, it can be argued that there is a very strong case for intervention in Zimbabwe. However, this is (once again) a problem of the post imperial situation. Mugabe was seen, by many of our current politicians, as a great freedom fighter, and is still seen as such by many Africans. Regrettably, it will have to be dealt with by Africans themselves. We can only hope that the election results in defeat for Mugabe. |

no,although a hit team may solve the problem |

no, but the UN need to send in the a-team to take out Mugabe. |

I'd love to see a coalition force go in there and topple that tyrant but it would have to be on a UN mandate and supported by the Confederation of African states. It's not a British problem. We left them with a thriving economy which Mugabe has slowly dismantled. He wanted independence on his own terms, he's got it and now look what he's doing with it. |

I have family friends in Zim...I am South African. No, but I do think the world should be putting pressure on the Southern African countries to stand up to Mugabe. I also think that Britain should stop sending aid to Zim. This might seem unfair on the innocent victims but I think that aid is slowing down the process of change to get Mugabe out. The people of Zim need to see what type of leader they have and Mugabe will only lose all support when people have nothing left to eat. So...short term suffering for long term benefits. |

No, why should our service personnel take on another fight that isn't ours? Africa needs to sort out it's own problems starting with getting Mugabe and his henchmen out. If it weren't for corruption Africans wouldn't be suffering so much poverty and hunger. Do all those people who contributed to Live Aid etc, ever wonder where the millions went? |

funnh how you talk about hit teams... in the 80s (i think that time) a rhodesian SAS operation named 'operation milkfloat' attempted to assasinate both robert mugabe and joseph nkomo... the team missed both men by minutes... interesting how history has played itself out... |

morally - yes of course
in actual fact however, NO, it would turn into another Iraq as there are so many factions vying for power in Zimbabwe, which are either currently supported or ruthlessly repressed by Mugabe (there are many parallels with Iraq).
plus we are overstretched and underfunded presently
perhaps the French and Germans could do something for a change? |

The British Army is already over-stretched as it is, I think it would be a good time for the EU to show they are serious about world affairs and for other European Countries to step up to the plate. |

Nope. It's all self inflicted.
They wanted Britain and British influence cleansed from the country.
Now they have the utopian dream that they thought would happen once they got rid of all Britishness out of their lands.
Like the old saying goes....'Be careful what you wish for as it might just come true'.
Zimbabwe is being ruled by a Zimbabwean.
They sang and danced when they got self rule. So whyever should the UK be concerned about a nation that wanted rid of them in the first place?? |

Ideally, yes, but warfare is not an ideal state of affairs. In practical terms it's pretty well impossible. Zimbabwe is a landlocked country, none of whose neighbours would welcome the passage of British troops. This is one we can forget about. |

The British should be defending their own people and not sticking their noses where they don't belong. Just like they have no business in the Middle East nor Afghanistan. They deserve everything that happens to them. **** |

The UK won't send troops to Zimbabwe unless the Americans send troops first then the UK glove puppet will bend over backwards to help. |
