Wow, you're getting pounded pretty good for someone who just asked a question. I remember hearing about the USS Indianapolis. Didn't they take the bomb parts to the Enola Gay (sp?) to drop on Hiroshima? If I remember my history correctly they were bombed afterwards & then left at sea for days because of a blunder by the government. Nobody came to look for them.
Anyway, as for Bushes daughters, I think you are right. He would find a way to end the war if his daughters went over there. Only thing is, our history shows that generally it is mostly the middle class and poor who fight for our country. It is the rich who govern it.
I am sorry so many of our enlisted men who are fighting for our freedom of speech gave you such a hard time for exercising your rights. It sounds like your family has given a lot for this country too. |

I didn't see Chelsea Clinton joining the military when her daddy was bombing the Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina. |

:)

Because his daughters are grown and can make that decision for themselves. |

Should you? I didn't know that military service was mandatory in this country.
Get over it already. If we force George Bush's children to fight, then Chelsea Clinton needs to come too.... that's right... mommie Clinton voted for the war.
Pack her bags.
Your name suits you. |

Because they have not *chosen* to enlist. Because we don't have a draft. Because noone is forced to serve in the military in this country. The same reasons we don't force you to go.
I wish your son the best of luck. I know you, as all mothers do, worry about him. I know it's difficult because it took me so many years to get my own family to stop worrying so much. Know that he serves in the best trained and equipped military in the world.
Bush however did serve. He served in the Air National Guard. He qualified as a fighter pilot. There's a lot of debate on whether or not he attended all of his drills, but there isn't any that he finished his training. It's a tad bit better than dodging draft by dropping out of ROTC as soon as you have passed over your draft number. Actually, it's a lot better. His unit could have been called up but wasn't. |

how many times are you people going to beat this dead horse?????????
we have a VOLUNTEER army....
im not sure what is so difficult to understand about that... |

There adults. They make there own decisions. He can't force them. |

This is a horrible question.
The people sign up to be in the military/airforce/army. When you enlist, you know there is a chance you may have to serve somewehre or go to war. His daughters can make their own decision as to if they want to enlist. Parents should support their children's decision if they want to join. |

Perhaps he respects his daughters' right to choose?
Maybe you should as well.
What a silly argument. We live in America. It's a volunteer military. |

you are an idiot! this is a volunteer army! if they want to go is their choice no their parents choice!
parents don't force their children to join the military young men and women do so because they want to contribute something to their country and apparently most of the consider it an honor to serve their country and it is an honor |

Do you really expect an answer? Your question doesn't warrant any ones time. |

Yes! If his daughters chose to joint the military, they should definately go to war. Why should they be drafted when no one else is? Maybe you should go to war...... |

Because.... girls can't fight! Dee Dee Dee! You must be really behind on the times if you think they allow girls into MOS's where they are actually going into combat. |

what?

No, they would just pose a danger to our troops. Don't let your hatred limit your thinking. |

The United States military is all voluntary. No draft. No one is making anyone do anything. Come to think of it. A good number of "non US citizens" have voluntarily enlisted in the military. Go figure. |

Whether I like Bush or not, or agree or disagree with him, that's besides the point. Your question is pretty stupid. George Bush did not FORCE anyone to enlist in the Armed Forces. We all enlisted with our own free will......being in the military means defending the country and constitution. His children did not CHOOSE to enlist, us that are serving did.
Your added comment about you having a hard time believing someone who's family members dont's show support makes no sense. So for them to show support and prove a point they must join the military? Looking at your questions, you are not in the military yourself. So looks like you are in the same boat as the twins you are trying to bash. |

If they choose to enlist........Have you done your duty to your country.....I think not.
I see very few parents "Sending" their children to fight. I suggest your parents send you!!!! |

Before the US goes to any war all the daughters and sons of the Congress should be the first to enlist. No ifs, ands, or buts. They go! Maybe then we'll stop engaging in wars that our none of our business. |

The key word you used was send. The armed service are volunteer. Maybe they don't feel that they are good enough or could pass the PT test?
Look, my husband will complete his 20 - 26 years (depending on rank) and he has talked with both of our kids. He doesn't want our daughter anywhere near the armed services and quite frankly neither do I. I have lived on several bases and have seen the crap that goes on. Some females are made of tougher stuff then others.
What we tell our children is that if they choose to join the military they need an education first so that they can join as an officer.
We would both support our children in whatever they choose to do even if those choices aren't ones that we would have made for them.
So my longwinded answer is that they each have a choice to make or have already made. Like any parent we try to support our kids even if it conflicts with our thoughts of what they should or shouldn't do.
Being President doesn't mean that he can drag his children to a recruiter and make them enlist any more then I could drag mine. They thankfully have the freedom of choice. |

They're his daughters, not his property. He can't just send them off. I get your point, though, especially from the standpoint of a few years ago when they were showing how many politicians actually had children that were in the military serving in Iraq. It was astoundingly low compared to the number of them who were in favor of the war at the time... |

So you're saying we need to restart the draft and include women? Hey I'm all for that but you'd be one of the first to go and that would be justice. I'd love to see you go and fight for this country. What's that you say, you wouldn't do it? What a coward. |

I think if they believe just as strongly as he does in the war then they should but if by chance they are against the war and always have been (yes, I realize this is a big chance) then no.
But we all know they would never go anyways so it's moot. |

nah, women shouldnt go to war and follow those stupid men.
all women!!!! stay a woman. cute & peaceful |

he served in the military that's good enough.
if the commander and chief is going to order men and women into battle he should have at least served at some capacity. that's more then bill Clinton did.
besides this is a free country last time i checked his daughter's are free to chose there own life.
why don't you serve your country? |
