Should I apologize for bullying Marines?

No hurt intended to Marines, i'm just highly proud, enthused with my Rangers :-)

Do realize that in order to be a Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you have to first graduate Army OSUT Home of the Infantry training. You then have to graduate US Army 3 week Airborne School, earning your Paratrooper wings. Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP). RIP is a 4 week long assessment. After that you need to graduate Ranger school itself. Ranger school being an intense 61 day long school and eventually other training such as SERE-C, Jumpmaster, Air Assault, Pathfinder ect. *Minimum 44 weeks.* Not knocking the Marines...they are good at what they do, however, this is far more training a US Marine will have. How long is Marine boot/soi 18 weeks?

Ranger school has a 90%+ weed-out rate. In a class of 100, fewer than 10 will graduate. Some will die during training (yes, die). 27 have died in Ranger School history. *Army* Rangers are Special Op. Special Forces have completely different entities and our training pipelines reflect that. You will average 6 hours of sleep per week during Ranger School. If someone considers Marine boot camp tough their not ready to become a U.S. Ranger.

No disrespect for Marines but Rangers are Special Operations, meaning the men in there are the best of the best.

Marines are *basic* shock troops, Rangers are *elite* shock troops. Marines are trained to be the first ones to go in to an all-out offensive, and Rangers are trained to sneak in, sneak out, and never be seen... :-

U.S Rangers are Special OP, and we make Marines look like girls-couts, now imagine our Special Forces~ 90% SF of all four branches remain Army.

Dont worry about it, I think the Marines will get over it. You got your facts a little wrong. Ranger school traditionaly has had a 50% weed-out rate and Marines also regularly attend Ranger School as well as AirForce Special Ops and Navy SEALS.

sounds to me like you are braggin there bud. you find a marine with spec forces qualifications and tell him your rap sheet he will tell you to fuc& off and get a life we all fight for one country and are best in our fields i dont know that i would consider army rangers as spec ops either

I don't believe you are, or ever were a Ranger.

Your attitude is severely poor and I believe you do not possess the mentality to be a Ranger, unless they have dropped the standards since my day. When I was a Ranger, we didn't need to run around telling people how bad we were, and I still wouldn't say it today. Although I have seen your rant, verbatim, at least fifty times. I believe its time for you to let down the keyboard tough guy act and do something else with your life.

Edit: to all of you tough guy Marines arguing back, you are just as bad, in my opinion. I guess I am just the old timer here, but these arguments are getting ridiculus.

Once again you are another who proved the point of the quality of the Marine Corps fighting ability.

You do realize you are having to compare a elite unit of a branch of the military against a normal branch of the military. Compare regular army to the marines and you are comaping the same type of things, but to say our special forces are better than your regular infantry isnt much to brag about.

try comparing rangers against Force recon or scout snipers (who are the top snipers in the world)

ADDITION: Unlike the Army the Marines dont feel like we have to give a ribbon, medal, cord, pin, patch, or sticker for everything that we do.

Everytime I see a person in the Army uniform it reminds me of the movie Office Space where Jen aniston has to wear all of that flare in her suspenders.

By the way the rangers I met while serving just seemed like regular army who could read a map a little better.

Try applying with a security contracting firm and see if they consider ranger a part of the operators. The answer will be no.

What do you think recon Marines do? In the words of my son -- who is a recon Marine who will be going to Iraq in about 10 days, "Mom don't worry -- if I'm getting shot at, that means I'm not doing my job right." He's like a ghost -- moving in and out of places without being seen. Actually, I am glad and proud for all of our armed forces, but I am partial to my Marine. I think you wouldn't be so quick to compare Rangers to Special Forces Recon if you checked out the amount of training they go through. And don't fool yourself -- Force Recon DOES exist. They were reactivated publicly right around Christmas, but they never stopped existing. They come together to do specific jobs and then disband, figuratively -- the training continues regardless of activation or not. Of all Marines, there are less than 800 batallion recon Marines, and even fewer than that are recruited into special forces recon and actually make it. Their number is significantly less than one half of 1% of the Corps. Batallion recon goes through extensive amphibious training in addition to jump wings and all of that. Force experiences even more -- which my son can't or won't even talk to me about. Check it out -- it might give you some new respect for this elite team. Either way, we are lucky to have anyone willing to serve.

Not sure why you are comparing basic training of one service to advanced training of another. For that matter, I am not certain what your question is. If you want to brag about how tough your training is, do what the other morons do and go to some biker bar and yack at them.

FIRST of all, i find it funny taht that guy said that if talking was a weapon, then you're lethal. cuz he's right.

SECOND, regardless of what training you go through, you all serve the country and risk your lives. of maybe i should say THEY serve and risk their lives. and sneaking? no disrespect to snipers cuz i give snipers mad props with the wind calculations and all but you dont sneak around things unless your scared of them.

and what the hell does a ranger do anyway? i've never even heard of the rangers. the only time i've heard of rangers is power rangers and forest rangers.

And you say my Rangers who the **** do you think you are. My Father and Brother are retired and active Rangers. I love the Rangers but don't start talking **** about something you don't know nothing about.
