Hello,
I recently enlisted in the US Army as a 35f. Before I even enlisted I was considering trying to go in as an officer. I will have my college degree in May and I would meet the qualifications, it would just be a matter of applying and getting accepted. I understand that I can still apply for OCS school after basic and AIT as an enlisted soldier. My question is can I go ahead and apply even before I start BCT? I do not leave for Fort Jackson until the end of July. Or should I wait to finish BCT and AIT?
Another question....If I apply for OCS after AIT and get accepted I would have already recieved 10,000 of my 20,000 sign on bonus. Would I have to pay this back since I became an officer? Also are they any incentives for being an Officer (Student loan repayment, signing bonuses...etc.)?

I would apply now. Why go through training twice if you can avoid it. You have very little to gain by going through enlisted training, followed by officers training ! |

Yes you can apply now.
But the process takes about 6 months.
If you enlisted and then applied, yes you would have to pay back any enlistment bonus's.
No there are no bonus's for officer accessions
Some times there is student loan repayment, some times not.
But if you accept student loan repayment, you give up the GI Bill. |

Hello. We need fine leaders so try and go in as an Officer. Your pay will be higher and you will advance faster than going in as an enlisted person. No matter what you pick you will do just fine with your advanced education. |
