Should I bring my phone for Tech school?

OK, I know I won't need my phone during BMT, but I would like to have once I graduate. Then for Tech School I know I won't be allowed to used during the day time, But they say something about after duty hours in my room. anyway, but I wonder if I should take with me from the beigining or have it sent out to me.. I was told that the mail takes for ever to get to us, unless we use Fedex. I don't mind anything as long as I have my phone to talk with my family at least once a week. Please give me all the advised you can, I am excited, but again I want to know that I will be able to talk with my love ones, specially since they are not in th US, no one will be coming for the ceremony. so... I want to talk to them.

I took mine to Basic Training. They kept in with my personal belongings until we were allowed to use it.
But by all means take it to your tech school. You can use it during off hours, essentially not between 0500 and 1700 Monday through Friday. I used mine as my alarm clock and called friends, family and made calls for personal business during the evenings and weekends. |

You can take it, just make sure that when you land in San Antonio it's turned off, and in your luggage! :) (I of course am assuming you're going to the AF with the lingo you used.)
As far as the mail goes, it won't take forever. You're probably going to Tech School here in the States somewhere, so it wouldn't take that long for USPS shipments. Plus, FedEx and UPS are harder to get on-base while you're a student. |

My son just graduated from BMT 2 weeks ago. They kept his cell phone until the night after they graduated. As long as he wasn't walking and talking on it at the same time, they didn't mind him having it out that weekend. In tech school, he's allowed to have it, but to only use it certain hours. Oh, and since your folks aren't able to come to graduation, I hope one of your buddy's families will take you with them off base for dinner on Friday afternoon or Saturday. A friend of my son's whose parents couldn't come went to the Spurs game with us on Friday night. Let me also say thank you for serving your country - and congratulations on choosing a career in the USAF! |

I took mine to basic, but it was nice to have during tech-school. I could call as long as I wasn't in class ot PTing. But I would take it. |
