Airforce. They have a higher degree of prestige and marines can seem dirty and disrespectful. God bless America |

I'll tell you, being in the Air Force is great. I have been to MANY other countrys, all over Africa and Europe. My buddies in the Mariens have seen one place overseas.......Iraq. While there down getting shot at, im up in m nice warm C-130 going to the nearest big city with a Hilton in it. |

It is an honor to serve under any branch of the US Armed Services.
If you like to fly or love to fix jets...go for the Air Force.
If you want hardcore action...definitely the Marines.
Just a reminder: There are no Tom Cruises flying jets and definitely no John Cenas in Marine BDUs, whatever branch you enlist in.
Good luck. |

I think you should go air force so you have a better chance of survival in war. |

Go for the Air Force.
The benefits are better than being in the Marines.
Better living conditions.
The Marines have just as much prestige but you will have to really be prepared to deal with the stress and with combat on the ground as well as mentally prepared.
I was going to be joining the Marines but i did my research, spoke to a few people and it just wasnt for me. So i'll be joining the Air Force, but everyone has their own personal taste. So i would suggest that you talk to a few people who have already served. |

I don't know if it's any different today, but 40 years ago I served in the Marine Corps and spent over 3 years of my 4 year enlistment overseas (2+ years in Viet Nam). Some of the differences I noted were that the Air force living conditions were much more comfortable. Four airmen shared a 1 room sleeping quarters, Marines typically had 80 men to a barrack wing. In Okinawa, Marines had what was called Cinderella liberty. You could go into town, but had to be back by midnight for E-4 and below. The Airmen only had to be present for muster (roll call) and be present for their work detail or shift, otherwise they could come and go as they pleased. |

Sounds like you want some kind of Special Force training.
All 4 services have excellent special forces. You have to volunteer for any one of them and then the fun begins. If you aren't top of the class in academics and physical training. You are gone.
Air Force usually keeps most of its troops in one place for most of your 4 years. In war they are usually in a safer place.
I was drafted and sent to Nam, so I can only go by what I know but, just remember, the Marines are always the first in in any combat situation. |

Depends what your goals are. If you want tough, go Navy Seals. If you want to think you are tough, go Marines. If you want soft and easy, go Air Force. Yes, there are special forces Air Force, just like there are special forces Army. I don't know about smart, but you do have to be tough and courageous and capable and able to endure danger and putting your life on the line. |

Marines are guards on ships. You don't have to stay on your ship in home port!
Respect! Who cares. Get a vocation and don't come home in a body bag! |

Neither. You should join the US Army and become a true man. The Air Force is full of pogues and Marines are just squids. Join the Army! |

I have a very simple answer for you.
(a) If you are very physically fit, and you can endure pain and stress from hardcore marine training, join the marines.
(b) If you are extremely smart in math, physics, and you have understanding of the mechanics of flight (or is able to learn it quickly) and you have physically fit body + good eye sight join the air force as it is more interesting.
(c) If you are not good at (b), join the marines and work really hard, you might be able to endure the physical stress. |

I wouldn't join either of them. It supports the war and I hate the war. I think war is pointless and all we're doing is killing people and getting little in return!! |

Might I say, generally the more intelligent folks go into the air force, the nave & then the army & Marine Corp...The chances of seeing actually battle is less in the Airforce, then the navy army & then the Marines. For every man in the field, there are about 10 in th eoffice unless things have changed a lot since I was in. I was in the army, and would go right now if I wasn't to old and a bit over weight. You get more education in the Air Force. I hope you choose well. |
