Should I join ROTC in college?

I did ROTC when I was a freshman in college. I strongly suggest it if you have any interest in the military, because this will let you know if those interests are truly strong.

I don't suggest it solely for tuition assistance. However, if you are desperate for that help, you should be able to join as a freshman and not have to fully commit until your 3rd year. However, they will always be pushing you to commit.

Overall, it was a great experience and helped me learn a lot about who I am and what I can accomplish if I try.

Yes Airforce ROTC the best way to go my brother has become very successful through the program.

Yes you should You should also look into National Guard while in college. They will help pay your way and provide some spending money. I did the ROTC route and never regretted a moment of it.

You should only join ROTC if you're willing to make the committment to military service. I was in ROTC, I thought it was fantastic, couldn't say enough great things about the program. Helped me become a better, disciplined student. It's a committment though, you can't grow a beard and be a slacker like some of your classmates. The first two years of the program require no committment to military service. Any time you like, you can quit (if you're on a scholarship, you'd forfeit scholarship money). So, you might want to look into it. I'd advise you to call and talk to the ROTC Dept. at UMD and ask to meet with them to ask them all about the program before you start school. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to sit down and talk to you and tell you all about the program and everything you should expect.

Go ahead and sign up for the class...you'll either like it or you won't. If you don't like it, you don't sign up for the next class, its that simple.

You can not be "drafted" from the ROTC. If you would like to learn respect, for yourself and others, leadership, and a whole bunch of things that a Liberal Arts degree can't? I would highly recommend ROTC

yes. they pay for school as well as have a lot of benefits after school

for me, since i am in the guard as well, will be paid somewhere around 1000 dollars a month through drill pay and the gi bill. they will pay full tuition. through the guard i will have a 200,000 dollar loan repayment after school and be commissioned as a 2LT.

i highly suggest joining the service, as well as going to school. i think you will enjoy the army better, but that's only one soldiers opinion

yes if you are planning on joining because remember if you accept an rotc scollorship you will be required to serve 4 years so think about it

you'll learn a lot more useful skills than in the ROTC.
