I just wanted to know the pros and cons of joining the army, and what it is like. Also, when should I join?

Cici did a good job in explaining the pros and cons of joining the Army. As for when you join it is all a matter of personal preference. If you want to join asap you can at 17 (with parents consent) and you would be enlisted, or you can go to college and join ROTC or OCS after college. After graduating college you would be a 2nd Lieutenant. Personally, I've really enjoyed the ROTC program so far, but it is ultimately your decision. If you want to join right away go for it, likewise getting a college degree and becoming a officer is good too. Both are great options so you can't really go wrong. I'm a freshman in college this year and I absolutely love the ROTC program. Just do your research and I'm sure you will make the right decision. |

As the person above stated that is all correct. I joined to help stabilize my family. I was working in Las Vegas, but I went as far as I could in my job. I wanted more. So I joined the army. I wouldn't change it for anything. My life has changed so much. I feel that I have become a better person. You should join when you are ready. You can join as young as 17(with parents signing saying you can). I joined when I was 23. Best of luck to ya. |

In the marines failure is not an option, you always think of new ways to improvise adapt and overcome and you will be victorious. The marines are trained much harder mentaly and phisically, and every marine is a rifleman. The marines are much smaller in numbers so they always have to think of ways to overcome the situation. And they use there outstanding training to do this. The army on the other hand is not as diciplend and has a verry diferent mindset they also do not have the training that the marines have. examples of the marines great sucess are Battles of Incheon, vietnam, the chosin Reservoir, iwo jima, guato canal, iraq, kuwait, al qaeda. But when it comes down to it its really just different uniforms, different missions but were all fighting for the same flag
