I am as proud of that lad as a parent could be of theirs. I think it takes a lot of courage for him to serve in that type of environment when he doesn't have to.

It's a shame that the sniveling little brats here in the US couldn't possible look up to Harry as a role model. They don't seem to look up to anybody.

Yes, he should have went went his recce unit to iraq when they left for their tour. It would have gave him and the Crown some 'street' cred and showed that they aren't all a bunch a snobs and drama 'kings' and 'queens' literally. Back in the days they actually fought and we all admired them for it. It is apart of World history.
If I was him I would have left away. He would have been the most popular future king or whatever upon his return. Hell, Prince Andrew got to fight in the Falklands back in 1982.

If he wants to be over there I think it is awesome of him. It shows he great character. I now look at him in a higher light.

Great leaders of the past used to do that and he wants to. I think he'd do a great job.

I think for "military service" to be hailed by the media when speaking to future generations, much like the George W. Bush scenario, they should have to actually serve and not just be on a list of names, have a suit & be issued a weapon.

The Prince's scenario is nothing like our soon to be former-President, but to make the point to those of "royal" lineage where ever they exist. I don't want my leaders wearing 500 kilos of make-up, I want them to be the salt of the Earth.

No he shouldn't. If insurgent forces killed him, it would be a large moral boost for the enemy. Also, if the insurgent forces knew where he was at, they might attempt to target his unit more so then others creating higher casualties within that unit. He should have been commissioned in the Navy or Air Force where there is a lot less risk (not saying that those branches aren't dangerous because they are too).
