Say bye bye to freedom of speech |

No, that has always been dealt with by replacing that general. |

You need to understand the basic concept of our nation, which is, civilian control of the armed forces. If a general could publicly disrespect the President, then it would result civilian inability to control the military, which, as you may know from worldwide examples, often lead to military coup d'etats. |

When someone joins the military she gives up her rights under the constitution, and her rights are protected under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, freedom of speech is not included. Criticizing an officer in your chain of command is a crime under the UCMJ. This is true for a very good reason, military discipline and subordination must be maintained or the system breaks down. You have to ensure people will follow orders even when their lives are at risk. |

No.
As a member of the Armed forces not even the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs can do this without repercussions. According to Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice not only is it illegal, but the offending officer can be Courts Martialed depending upon the severity and to whom the contempt was directed. This URL below spells out specifically what will happen to any Commissioned Officer no
matter their rank.

You learn two important items in basic training (1. Uniform Code of Conduct (2. Military Chain of Command. If you disobey or refuse to recognize either you will be in a world of hurt. |

No, Flag grade officers should not criticize or disrespect the President. But they are expected to advise him on making the best tactical/strategic decisions on military operations. Even if it means disagreeing with the presidents opinion. |
