Should all the Congress and Senate who voted for the war ensure that thier child serve in Iraq?

99% of those who voted for the war have never served and do not have any children in Iraq includeing Bush, Cheney, Rumpsfield and Rice. What gives?

No one can be forced to serve in the military. It's all voluntary service. Those who are serving now are there because they want to be. If I were just a few years younger and not a single parent I would reenlist for Iraq. |

Yes, forced servitude. Great idea. The United Stated Armed Forces are volunteer and shall remain that way. As a career Non Commissioned Officer I want nothing to do with anyone joining because they were told to or forced into it and I'm quite sure my fellow NCO's feel the same way as I do. Who cares if politicians kids haven't served?
Short answer is NO, nobody should be forced to serve in the US Army Forces...including politicians kids. |

Congress has the responsibility to keep the United States free from enemies. I don't have to be a drug addict to make rules to keep my children from using drugs. |

You also left off, Hillary Clinton! Oops, I know, you forgot!!!
The answer to your question is, NO. If you mean it to be a punishment, then you are facing Iraq wrongly. If you voted for one person that voted for the war in Iraq, then you would also be responsible to send your child! Interesting, isn't it! |

No, it is not necessary though some prominent politicians have children in Iraq.
"Jimmy McCain, 19, who returned from Iraq in mid-February, is stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. Jack McCain, 21, is poised to graduate from the Naval Academy and could join the Marines as a second lieutenant."

Congress already has a higher percentage of children in military service than the general population.
What's your point?
EDIT: That was during the Republican controlled Congress. Not sure if that's true now that there's more Democrats than Republicans. |

Who cares. If your kids were white collar workers and you voted on a bill to build new roads, should your kids build the roads? Same principle. |

They got rid of the draft so I assume their children never enlisted. |

Only if a 'draft' is reinstated.
"99% of those who voted for the war have never served" And 100% are elected officials. The solution is to only vote for veterans.
If only veterans are elected, then only veterans will make those decisions. |

blah blah blah. tired question. this question had been asked since wars began and the answer is NO. besides, the military is voluntary isnt it? John Mccain has 2 sons in the military, one is at the naval academy and the other is a marine. there are politicians who have kids in the military, jus tnot the hippy bittchesss that want the USA to be passive and liberal. |

It is often said that the military never start wars - its the politicians that do. Too easily they send other peoples children to fight. There is a lot to be said for the following clause to be added to the constitution. "May those who vote to take the people to war, lead by donating a life close to them to that same cause" |

Not quite serve, but should be willing to acknowledge in their vote, that if it came to a draft, their kids would not be excempted. Face the facts, many of those who voted against their war, voted with their conscience and not on Deomocrat or Republican side. Now they need to face the cameras and make sure they are their when the bodies are coming home. Bush should not have been impeached, but should have been censored or something. This war was terribly runned and is costing billions. The tax payers need to demand better quality service from him and his Administration.. |

Yes, and better yet, they should go themselves. No great loss of any politician. We should just give them sticks, too. |

I think everyone who voted for this pointless and crazy Iraqi war deserves to have their kids drafted and send to fight...frontline. |
