Should i be worried?

He, if he really is in the Navy is safe and sound on a ship floating in the gulf. He as a booter recruit is NOT in Iraq and this sounds like a big story on his end and maybe yours for attention. I really hope not, because it isn't funny.

IF he is having issues everyone he works with on the ship will see it and take care of if.

This sounds more like an attention getter on his end or his way of breaking it off with you without having to be mature about it by saying "hey I don't want to go out with you anymore."

16 is against the law for him anyway. Maybe he will write you again, but if he doesn't and he really is in the Navy I wouldn't worry about it. We have lots of new kids that don't adapt well right off to being away from home for the first time. We talk to them and keep and eye on them to get them back into the right place mentally.

boot camp for the navy lasts 6 or 8 weeks, and i'm pretty sure it's in Illinois.

So no, if he joine don the 30th of June, he's not overseas right now, he's still in basic training (boot)

First of all a lot of men and women overseas right now feel deprived of human comforts they were once use to at home. So before you jump to any conclusions you need to decide if he was really talking about suicide or just venting about not being well adapted to his new environment.
The second thing you need to consider is if he just joined the Navy in June he hasn't really had time to even finish basic training yet. So, no he wouldn't be in Iraq so soon after just joining.
As far as the safety let me just tell you what my little brother has told me (he's on his 3rd tour to Iraq now): More soldiers are killed in car accidents on post every year due to drinking and driving than have been killed in Iraq. I'm still not comforted by this but that's what he tells me~!

yes you do go to boot camp first or whatever equvalent the navy has. I have found taht most people that talk about killing themselves are usually looking for some sort of reaction or attetion. Im not sure about teh state there because american tv sensores alot of the news as i understand from friends over seas but even so , the death count wouldnt really be a concern of mine if hes actually looking to kill himself. Speak to him and try and get a sense of if hes looking for your attention or if he is actually wanting to kill himself. Just remeber they do pychological evaluations and if hes in that bad a shape they will pick up on it. Good luck

He will be given basic trainning, and then shipped out between six months to a year. The chance of actually being a casualty is very slim. Your ranking is a better prediction of whether or not you will even get hurt on duty. What I mean is that if you are a higher ranking, or importance, then obviously the military is going to make sure you do not get harmed.

In a way you should be worried but you need to tell him that if he kills himself then what about our freedom we need him to fight because hes protecting our country the USA. And they don't automatically send you to Iraq...you need training first. It depends on when they send you to Iraq. It isn't as dangerous now but if we just relax and take a break then it could be dangerous. Not many people are getting killed as much but we need him to make it stay that way. You need to tell him that.

The military is always dangerous, but for a Navy boy it is CERTAINLY a lot less dangerous than say ground infatry soldiers. And he has to go through basic training first, then get assigned somewhere.

Are you sure he's in the Navy? Their basic is l believe 8 weeks. If he went to Iraq it would have been on a ship and he is busy. The navy is the safest place to be in Iraq. I wouldn't be worried, I would be moving on.

They can send you where ever they want. And with the war in Iraq they will send as many as they need as quickly as they have to. Yes, it's still bad in Iraq. Don't take it lightly. Just write him nice letters giving him encouragement. It will help him go on.

He would have to go through basic training in the Navy I believe it is still 8 Weeks and then job training which can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 18 mos. No one gets sent straight to Iraq after they join you have to be trained first. And yes it is still dangerous and people are being killed. If he is in the Navy unless he is a Seabee he should be out to sea or in a seaport not actually in country.

your 16 there are plenty of other fish in the sea.and he said good bye to you key word good bye!! you should look at it like he is serving his country i find it verry offensive that you stated he wants to kill himself it shows how smart you really are he is serving his country!!! and if you really love him you would realize that. and understand that. the government can send a solider anwhere they please mabe he was trying to be nice and get rid of you by telling you he is going to iraq get the hint and move on your 16!!

well you guys are young and if he really loves you and you really love him then there is nothing to worry about. if you truly love something then set it free and if it comes back it is meant to be.

you are verry young for him your actually so young that your illegal but sometimes love prevails even throught tough situations. if he doesnt write again within the next 3 months i would move on and if you find eachother again later on then its meant to be.

Because you're a minor, he can't legally be with you while he's in the military. So if you two stay together, he can be imprisoned and court martialed. Yes, the navy (and any branch) is REQUIRED to go through all sorts of training prior to going to the desert. If he is having suicidal thoughts and making similar remarks, that should definately be a heads up to you and you need to talk to him or have some one both of you trusts to talk to him. Suicidal matters must always be taken seriously. The desert is a dangerous place, and depending on what you do there is going to be a major player in your likelihood of getting injured or killed (if you stay in the compound more, you will be a lot safer. if you do convoys, there's a greater risk)
Once he is out of his bmt, if he is still displaying suicidal tendencies you should try to contact his supervisor or someone out there. Suicide is a very serious matter in the military. If you do, i would suggest not telling them that you two are romantically involved.

Your 16 (My oldest is 16) , you need to talk to his family and let them know what he has said to you...He would NOT be in Iraq this soon, after his BCT and school for his job then there is a strong chance he may go , correct me if I am wrong but they do very short tours over there like 6 months..

Let his family know what is going on, and let him go.
You should be planning on where your going to college and your future the last thing you need is this.. his family can talk to him and inform his unit chaplin to get him the help he needs.

HE MAY HAVE ALREADY KILLED SOMEONE AND FINALLY GETTING HIT BY THE REALITY. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE THAT THOUGHT OF KILLING THEMSELVES. THERE'S MORE TO THE STORY. LET HIM CARRY HIS OWN BURDEN BECAUSE HE SOUNDS LIKE HE MIGHT BE A BAGGAGE IN YOUR LIFE.
