when you get to boot they issue you about $500 worth of stuff for your seabag these will be the minimum required items for the rest of your navy career. it also comes out of your 1st check. once issued they will have you take off the clothes you got there with and put on the stuff they gave you. the clothes you came with will be sent home along with whatever else they don't think you will need. |

If it is anything like Marine Boot camp, you will be issued several pairs of the most uncomfortable, cheaply made underwear on earth, and you wouldnt' be allowed to keep anything you bring with you anyway. |

I prefer you bring white boxers because when they issue your working whites whatever underwear will show a little bit and dont bring any color or funny designs because it will show through your whites. |

Bring the briefs. If you don't, the Navy will issue them to you, but you pay for them out of your first pay check. However they won't let you keep the boxers. Also I would recommend bringing socks (white and black gym socks) and your own running shoes. The ones they issue aren't all that great. Other than that if you bring it they will make you mail it home or donate it to charity. They'll do the same with the civilian clothes you're wearing when you get there, so you may want to wear something you don't mind donating. Good Luck and thanks for serving, see you in the fleet! |

It doesn't really matter, because they will just get ripped off of you by some horny, drunk marine. Your best bet is to get some horrible rash on your nether regions, that way they will leave you alone. |
