Your first question that needs to be resolved is the "Why".

Why do you think you want to join my illustrious Marine Corps?

What do you bring to the table? Is your heart in it? Or, is there some other motive?

Secondly, you will have to meet some very demanding physical evaluations, as well as pass certain aptitude tests, and moral evaluations and an initial background check.

As far as I know, you may still join the Corps, or any other branch as long as your immigration status is favorable.

You really need to chat with a Marine Corps Recruiter in your area, and obtain parental consent if you sign up before you turn age 18.

Don't do it for college money alone. Do it because you feel you have to. DO it because you have a burning desire to wake up every day for the next few years of your life wearing the Eagle Globe and Anchor. Remember, only a few can claim the honor and distinction of the title U.S. Marine.

As long as you are a legal resident of the United States you can enlist in any branch of the service. Certain jobs however like intelligence, you cannot do though.

One of the good things this president has done ( cant say much more than that about him though being he cut vetoed something that would help vets like my husband, but that's another story. ) is that he made it so that immigrants that have served this country have priority to become citizens.

Good choice for the Marines. But I would honestly look into which branch can offer you the best job that you would like to do. Because in the end after boot camp , its just a job. And nobody wants to do a job that the they hate. lol

I enlisted in the marines when I was 17 years old. I dont know about the not being a citizen thing

yes, I am a Former Marine and I can tell you it will help you a lot and will not hinder you too much. I want to give you the Marine speech which is if this is the only reason you are joining... don't. College gi bill guys don't make it in the marines. It is not the air force or the army. You live in the worst conditions in the military and the food is also the worst and the training is the Hardest (don't let anyone including rangers tell you any different). Your chances of being deployed are a lot better and your chances of being deployed somewhere cool are a lot worse (unless you like Iraq or Afghanistan) don't get me wrong not all Marines are deployed right now... it's about a third... constantly. I spent 19 months in Iraq out of 48 in the military... so think about it...if it is worth it at the end of the day in your mind to have that eagle globe and anchor, than go for it, if not check out our big brothers...the navy. I think they will not allow you to enlist in the marines.
And if they do, it wouldnt be high ranked jobs.

I don't care how hardcore or tough you are if your upbringing is poor or wealthy do not join the military it is evil. Why join what has your country done for you there is trillions of dollars circulating out there and most people get paid 12 dollars an hour with no medicare. You may think your proud or maybe your family is miltary regardless Self dicipline is good you can gain that by playing football man.

The marines Is no football Game son you get tackled you die for nothing when you die for your country you die from an idealisic plan of an other man the written rule was decided by someone else fo the good of all?
