Both are great branches. The best thing you should do is go to a marine recruiter and a navy recruiter to get information and do other research because the recruiter could be telling you lies. So, do a lot of information and see which branch fits you best. You will have to decide this on your own, not have people on the internet decide for you.
Good luck to you, and thanks for your future service!

you need to have a college degree if you want to be a pilot for either branch...

You can go through NROTC or go through regular college and then OCS.

I think Marines are cool :)

Probably won't see much action in the Navy. I did see a lot but that was during the vietnam war. we sometimes got as close as one mile off shore.

. I guess shipboard life is much better now, I was on an old WW2 cruiser so it wasn't built for comfort. But I got to learn how to operate Radar and Electronic Warfare Equipment and that was really cool.

Just wanted to add what the above person said...you do live on board the ship all the time unless you are married and can get into base housing. I know some of guys did go in together and get apt off base. Best part of the navy I think is the travel.

If you're going to be a pilot join the Marines. Marines don't have to live on a ship six months at a time unless they are assigned to an aircraft carrier. All Navy pilots have to do sea duty.

Join whatever feels right. My cousin was a pilot in the Navy. Graduated from The Naval Academy. You need to be VERY smart for that. Only .5% get in to be a pilot... You wont go to battle on a ship anymore.. It would be VERY rare if you did.. In the end, its all what you want. Talk to both recruiters. Each branch would be great

Unless you have a at least a competitive BA/BS and can get accepted as an aviation officer, you will not become a pilot in either branch.

Do not join the Navy and you recruiter is lying to you.
Pros: Military benefits. they are the easiest and laid back form of military in the US. you may get technical skill that are good in the civilian world. You are not in harms way since you are stuck in a ship. Food is good. You will save money since everything is payed by the navy. You will travel around the world.

Cons: It is the Navy after all; You will be stuck in the ship 24/7 365 days during your service; you may opt out to rent an apartment. There are few barracks but those are reserved for the Sailors that work around base. If you do not have a job on base; you have to sleep on the ship (or rent an apartment). The Marines are constantly making fun of the Sailor (except Corpsmen and Seals) If you are not a Corpsman or Seal; you will not get respect from the Marines. You will be bored on the ship and will not get any action (unless you are a corpsman; seal or maybe a sea bee)

Part of your uniform is going to be blue Cammie's which you are not allowed to wear in the mess hall or for maintenance work. not even on the street. I have no idea what the regulations are but they are pretty strict on those. Who wear blue camouflage uniforms? who or how they are trying to hide from the enemy? Leave the Navy to throw tactical warfare out the window. Another uniform you have to wear are those white Popeye uniforms. And you wont have a weapons assigned to you unless you are a corpsman, seal or guard or weapons job. In fact some people only get to shoot a rifle or handgun at least twice a year or less. you have to constantly clean that ship. If a bunch of sailors are in a bar or party with a bunch of Marines; women tend to go towards the Marines. consider more the USMC. The Marines are the best branch of service. if you want to get stationed at the coast where it is nice and cool, get the best training of the U.S.Military, get respect, honor, pride and have the sense of knowing you are the best there is, join the United States Marine Corps.
