i've been really considering joining the air force for a while but would hate to join and then regret it. i have a degree already and will have a bachelor's in nursing in a month. so i know i'd have a job that i love if i joined, but i've also just been offered a job at a local hospital. so now i'm torn...do i want to join the air force and travel and learn the discipline and leadership of the military or do i want to take the job i've been offered?
is anyone a nurse in the military that can offer advice??

My sister is an Army nurse, and she loves it. The Air Force is great don't get me wrong...but to join and get that job and get in sooner I would suggest Army or Navy as they would have the most openings. |

The Air force would be great. Good benefits and all that good stuff. However, you would make more if you were a nurse at a hospital. ppl don't join the military for the pay as you probably know that already. And i hate to be the bear of bad news, but the medical field is pretty hard to get into in the Air force. Not because you have to be super smart, but because there are so FEW openings. And if you can't book one of those jobs, you could be waiting around for a while (months) or you could get a job you don't really care for. Remember, once you sign, the Air Force can put you were they want you. Good luck to you. |

Yea definitely. I think everyone should make a small commitment to our country by serving in the military. The Air Force is great and you might enjoy it enough to make it a career; however, if you find it isn't for you, you can always get out and pursue nursing. Degrees don't expire, you know what I mean? Give it a shot...you won't regret it. |

I would do a cost benefit list.
How much money would you make as a civilian? Would you through COT and become an officer? Then you would have a pretty decent lifestyle. |
