You're directing your venim at the wrong target. Even if the military was "desperate" as you claim (I disagree), the decision to go to war was made by our CIVILIAN leadership - NOT by the military. |

Interesting question.
Why are condoms being handed out to kids in our public school system? Should they really be targeted, or should this practice be banned? Maybe we should shut those organizations down too. |

Uhm, no. "Kids" don't join the military. Adults do. You want to be an adult at 18, then ta-da you're no longer a kid. |

I remember assemblies in high school in the late '70's and early '80's for military recruiters. The kids that were interested paid attention, the kids that weren't looked at it as a free pass from class.
Colleges and trade schools are allowed to present information to high school kids...why not the military.
And a comment to an answer above me....what is it about political science and journalism classes that turn people stupid? |

I read that here in Calif some schools don't want the Marines coming onto campus. Actually it's kinda sad, I think the Marines set a good example for kids to follow. As to recruiting them they should invite them to their office if the kids want more info about joining.
Anyway I grew up believing it was my duty to serve, but I understand how all you young people feel. I don't like the Iraq war either, and I feel sorry for the guys coming back that are messed up. |

The answer is a resounding "NO". |

Yeah ... 18 yr olds are completely incompetent to decide for themselves. And what a great idea for America to give up all it's armed forces, and destroy all it's weapons of war. Yes ... that would be so delightful! |

Coolnickname.

Wow thanks for the great morale booster for the troops this is huh libbie? |

No they are not "targeting" kids. They have been recruiting 17 and 18 year old Adults since the military was founded. We always talk about how are kids are smarter today then when they were "back in the day" then why don't you let adults make the decision themselves. Most of the protesters that try to stop the adults from joining always bring up BS facts. |

Another example of liberal gibberish. Every male should serve in the military to get a full appreciation of reality. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many anti-American pacifists who support the enemy.

Recruiters are just doing there job. Some are to aggressive in their search for recruits. Believe me I know first hand that they lie (desert storm 1991) But I do not have any hard feelings with the recruiters. You can gain many opportunities from the military.(college, job training, diversity and social skills etc. ) |

I would not go as far as you have-about the military being this evil force. However, I thought it was inappropriate for them to be in our high schools. I had to explain the I was raised an "Army brat" to get them off my back. On the other hand, LOL, some kids need a better route to go-for example you know they will not go to college. My father was a high school drop out with a GED. He joined the Army at age 18 after being a beach bum for a while. He is now been out of the military for about 16 yrs. and is very successful. He credits the military for where he is today. |

Sure, shut them down. You'll just end up drafted. Who needs the First Amendment, anyway? |

No, becuase then you would have to band everything else that is advertising to kids that may have caused a death. |

I see you've been listening to the ultra liberal Berkley. Got news for you kid, it's an all volunteer military. If the people don't want to sign up, they don't have to. It's not the fault of the military if you don't have the balls to say no but then no one said you had any to begin with. |

They have every right to educate America's young people about their options for paying for college and serving their country as any other organization.
I am not sure why you are afraid of military recruiters.
It is up to the individual person as to whether they express interest or not. |

No.
Serving in the Military for 5 years was the best decision I ever made. I went in a troubled boy with no direction and I came out a man with discipline and life skills. I feel most young men would benefit from a tour of duty in one of the armed services. Again, best thing I ever did for myself!! |

Since you are obviously only about 13-14, or very poorly eduated, I will not tell you what I really think of your comment. |

recruiters don't care who they recruit, all they care about is making that next promotion, they don't care how old the potential recruit is, believe me all they think about is how much longer they can sit in their comfy chair and get that next promotion just to go to a regular unit and make the lives of soldiers a living hell |

They don't target children, they speak to adults....at 18 you are an adult. You should be banned for having only 2 brain cells left that fight for the same spot in your brain. |
|

hehe

With exceptions of 17 yr olds who qualify and get their parents permission, an 18 yr old is considered an adult. Military service is NOT MANDATORY so if you were stupid enough to believe in everything the recruiter says and do not take the time to research and ask questions about the military, then thats your problem. YOUNG ADULTS DON'T HAVE TO JOIN IF THEY DON'T WANT TO OR IF THEY HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT WHAT THE MILITARY WOULD DO TO THEIR FUTURE! |
