The military people that die doing their duty is ALLWAYS and honorable thing whether or not we're involved in a war that people like. I was against the Iraq War from day 1 and still am but that has NO bearing on my support for the troops. It is their job. Period. |

No the U.S troops should not feel any shame at all. Troops fight battles, campaigns and minor conflicts within a war; but "wars" are fought by politicians, and in Iraq's case: religious leaders. |

Soldiers will never lose in any form of war, because they go to war simply to serve the country- it's a call of patriotism. It's the politician who lose their game. Once a politician won an election the next thing that goes to his mind is " HOW TO BE REELECTED". |

why would they??? we aren't there to kill and take over,, we are there to strengthen a goverment and help them learn to fight their own battles.
in the end this is a enterlectural war,, yes we are fighting ,, blowing up things,, shooting ppl,, and doing all the war stuff, but wether not we get "mission compete" is going to because the powers that be will decide we have done what we were needed to do.
in the past it's been a all or nothing type war,, we either go to a country and kick the bad guys out and take over,, or we keep some other country from coming to our country and kicking us out, and taking over. There just isn't a cut and dry win or lose here. |

French troops during world war 2, we all laugh at their inability to fight, and for being useless, not having a word for victory, ha ha ha.
French troops could fight, and fight really well. They lost to the nazis due to one initial massive strategic error by command.
You can see where i am about to draw parallela to the current situation in Iraq...
They should not be ashamed of losing in Iraq, and they will not lose in Iraq, nor will they win in Iraq. Its up to the Iraqi government and the people to win or lose this fight. American troops can help, but its up the the Iraqis.
Hey, that sounds familiar, because it was up to the South Vietnamese to win or lose that war aswell, Americans helped, but could not win and lose the battle, and really did neither.
The only 'loss' that can be atributed to america in that war was trying to win the battle for south vietnam.

The U.S. military will probably be out between 12 and 18 months, or at least most of them (the rest there to teach Iraqi troops). The U.S. military is accomplishing the military goals of having the Iraq government take over its own country. There will always be crime and murders in any country. |

You have so much hatred for the Military. You try to place the blame on them for this war in Iraq, and you know good and well they had no choice but to go over there when they are ordered to.
I think you have it in your head if people don't join the Military, then there would be nobody over there to fight this war. We will have a Military in the United States one way or another. People will either voluntarily join, or the Government will bring the draft back. One way or another, Americans will be over in Iraq
fighting.

It sounds to me like you have been walking the walk of shame for some time now. When are you going to get over yourself ?
How about supporting the troops instead of being so negative ?
Does it do your heart good to find all the negative things in life and then try to get people to buy into your depressing side of life ?
You don't post questions here because you want answers - you post them to make yourself feel better about your twisted way of thinking. Now don't get me wrong - you have that right to express your opinion (I fought for that right) but you would be taken much more serious if you posted some thought or questions that actually had some purpose or unbiased opinions about how you feel about the situation we all face today.
An example of what I am talking about is:
List some pro-active suggestions based on your knowledge and education as to what would make this situation better for all of us. Do you have the capacity to make change ? If so, let's get er done, and if not than why not ? Making change takes courage and strength - complaining and degrading peoiple takes a coward and shows weakness.
I think veterans like myself think you are ashamed of what you stand for but I am not ashamed of the people who serve this country and I support them 100 %. Every Veteran who has served and is serving can always hold their heads up high because they have earned the right.... whether you think so or not.
