No, then we'll be the only major country without nukes. That spells bad news.

That would be ridiculous. Do we no longer have any threats against us and never will again?

That's the problem with the insane, spoiled and sheltered ivory tower elite who live in a fairy tale world. Waked up, you little children in adult bodies! This isn't fairy tale land. This is the real world.

People everywhere -- except recently for the Euro-cultures -- overpopulate until they will be desperate. Then they kill their neighbors and take their land. They have no choice then.

Are you ready to pack and move to a desolate place where you will starve and die, or are you prepared to force your descendants to that end? Until the grossly overpopulating cultures stop being so stupid, that's the eventual result of not being able to slaughter such invading cultures.

NO. and for Obama to say that just from us doing it will set an example that everyone will follow is him being a wonderful world called Fariyland. The fact is that if we do stop and destroy all of our nucluar weapons, we will one, be setting an example all right, an example of a duck in a pond surrounded by hunters, and two will be giving up our advantage and our "Diplomatic Weapon". The only reason that some countries respect us (mark i say some) is because that if they try the offesive, they'll get there can kicked all around the world by us. Other countries would crumble because they look to us for protection and the fact is that without nuclear weapons we will not have the capabilities to protect ourselves let alone other countries. So as an answer to your question, no. And furthermore, the mere thought of such a action is an act that will certainly spell out the doom of America and its citizens.
