Should the UAW be forced to renegotiate their contacts to reduce the cost of vehicle production or be fired.
Military members buy the cars they want based on price an quality. If the UAW doesn't want to loose jobs they need to stop insisting on being paid $74.00 per hour to push a button.
The unions have destroyed the industrial potential of the US. |

Not Rep or Dem!!

NO!! Foreign cars are made in the USA and help our workers, shut down the unions!! |
|

I love my airman<3
 |
nope :)
cause like i said in your previous question
alot of american cars are actually ASSEMBLED in Canada :) like ford, crysler and GM
not all obviously but alot are assembled here
also.. its called globalization... if americans only drove americans.. then people from asia would only drive asian... then people at the toyota, hyundai etc plants here in NA will be out of a job |

No because that would be against everything America stands for. It's called the free market. If a company can make a better product and sell if for less, no matter where they are based, then they can thrive in America. It's the Detroit car companies and the unions that need to stop and take a look around at what is happening if they ever want to be on top again. |

One Big Awfull Mistake America
|
I have a better idea. how about American car companies making American cars that Americans want to buy. how about an affordable sedan that doesn't run like crap after 80k miles. |

No, this is the United States. We don't want to force anyone to buy things...you know, like carbon offsets. |

why punish the military? don't they have it bad enough already? have you, your entire family and every one you know bought an american car yet? if not, you may want to start with them first. |

Um, no. The Gov't can require all sorts of things from the military, and this is NOT one of them.
Bad management practices are what is killing the American Auto industry. |

Of course not, unless you're willing to give up all the clothes in your closet for stuff that was made only in the US. Go take a look at the tags in your clothes. Most probably came from Asia.
Besides, the best thing that Detroit can do is start building cars that people really want, and that can last 250,000 miles. You've got some great ones here and there, but a hybrid SUV is not the way to go. Increasing a Suburban's mileage from 13 to 18 is not the same as getting a Cavalier from 27 to 45, say.
And I'm from Michigan, but I try to be a bit more rational. |

No foreign cars made in America are actually helping our economy. However, GM and Chrysler want us to pay for cars we will never own or drive. GM needs to file bankruptcy and their labor unions dissimulated. |

since when do American Car Companies care about Americans? get some thinking powers |

Absolutely not. Do you know what capitalism is? Its about free markets. Thats what creates competition. American carmakers have produced nothing but ****. We shouldnt keep buying their crappy product just because its american. If they want our business they will have to be forced to produce something good.
Foreign cars are not killing us. Foreign car companies also create thousands of jobs in the US. They have corporate offices here and also build their cars in factories on american soil. |

Better yet! The government should let the military people drive what they want, but pass a law forcing all union members to buy american cars. |

no. the members of the military reserve most of the same rights as anyone else. if they want to buy something of better quality than what comes out of michigan, they have every right to do so. i personally like american cars and am partial to chevy. but, the government should not make buying american cars mandatory, |
|

Why don't you start with the American Goverment can only purchase American cars. |

American Auto Makers meet Creative Destruction, (an Economic term.) |

There are "foreign" cars that are assembled in the US, by US workers, with US parts. There are also "American" cars assembled elsewhere, by non-US workers, with non-US parts.
Maybe the foreign cars "are killing us" because the US auto-makers have yet to figure out how to design vehicles consumers demand at prices consumers are willing to pay while maintaining revenues/costs at a level to earn enough profit to keep themselves afloat.
And what do military people have to do with it anyway? |

There are no AMERICAN CARS. The Frame may be American Steel. But the internal workings are all foreign parts. Even Saturn gets some of the parts from overseas now. Sorry to burst your bubble, I too wish we could truly "Buy American"! |

Not the military's problem! Foreign cars aren't killing you...the UAW and inept leadership are! |
