Should we, the USA, let Britain expand it's navy?

I wish it would. |

We, the USA, have no say in whether Britain expands its navy. I believe Britain contracted its navy rather than expand it, in a round of cost cuts. |

It's none of our business. But it wouldn't hurt to have a few more friendly warships to rely on. |

It isn't up to the USA to "let" Britain do anything. They are obviously a sovereign nation, free to do as they wish.
They're a good ally to the USA and it never hurts to have a good ally at your side. |

It is none of our business, though the expansion of nuclear missles come under several treatys GB has signed, including the NPT at the UN! |

Isn't that just a bit arrogant?
note to boomer: u r not protecting a world of ingrates, you are making the world safe for monsanto, texaco, coca-cola, chakita banana, chase, bank of america, to name a few....plus there are many other amoral multinational corps needing help! |

Britain is America's closest ally and has proven to be a good neighbor. Why would we question a NATO friend??Do you know something the rest of us don't???? |
|

AD
 |
We don't have to "let" Britain expand their navy. They are an NATO country just like us as well as one of our allies and have their own defense budget to do what they want. Now, if there was some terrorist organization trying to to expand then that would be a different story. |

And what has the USA got to do with our Navy!?
Actually we've run out of money in the wake of 1) helping to fight america's non-wars and 2) being too close to the US when it's economy collapsed.
The only way we'll enlarge our navy is by putting a magnifying glass in front of it. |
|

Armigero
 |
It is NOT up to us. They maintain a "force projection" sea force (navy & marines) to meet their own strategic security requirements and NATO & EU obligations. We're close allies by the way. |

Last time I checked, the UK was an autonomous nation...so we have zero say. |

this question should read
"CAN we, the USA, stop Britain expanding it's navy?"
the answer would be no.
IS Britain expanding or planning to expand it's Navy? No
so no reason to question it then is there?
just a point to note, the whole of the UK Forces have LESS soldiers, Tanks, Ships, Helicopters and fighter planes than the US Marine Corps alone, hardly a threat to the US! |

We have no say about how another sovereign country provides for it's defense , just as they have no say over ours.
The mindset of one country meddling with an others is what is leading us into one world government.
The USA is one sovereing nation, the UK another.
Try this; mind your own business. |
