I am currently deployed in Iraq, obviously can't tell you where but am typing on a third rate laptop in a third world country with third world internet service. Even with all of that I am glad I have atleast this much, now let me remarck on the first persons answer. The military is not a mafia by any means, but if that is your opinion and you live in America think about this tid bit of info. You pay taxes which goes towards my paycheck and my equipment, so in essence if you think we are the mafia, guess what, we are your mafia that you pay for. We work for the American people, that means YOU, even the ones that don't like us. We, the soldier don't make the decisions to invade or intervene with other countries problems, its YOU the American public that elect the leaders that decide that. In the military we have a little saying; if things seem unfair or you disagree with what your mission is then we tell those soldiers "write your Congressman". Now, as for the real question at hand, I am bias because I am in the military but yes I support the military. Now as far as Clinton is concerned, hey he wasn't one of the greatest presidents ever but wse need to stop worrying about the past and placing blame on someone. We need to find the solution to the problem. I am glad there are people that think soldiers are heroes and more importantly believe in us, the soldier. Know this though we don't do this to be heroes, we do this for many different reasons but for most of us its not selfish reasons. So, thank you to all the people that believe in us and I am glad I can be of service to America.

Honor and respect are what these men and women deserve. Because of them and the warriors from the past we have the right to voice freely what we think. Alot of other countries in this world would not allow you that freedom. You may not like the war but respect those who fight so you can sleep a little safer each night.

You are mistaken, or worse.

Congress and DOD have always been behind base closures -- closures of redundant facilities.

I am firmly behind our troops. I want their base pay doubled, and their VA benefits restored and increased in line with inflation.

I want money spent on their welfare and on equipment that will keep them safe, not on profits for Cheney's Halliburton and other profiteering defense contractors who sell expensive toys that often don't work.

I want the troops sent to war only when there is a plan for what they are supposed to be doing and how they are going to get out.

I, for one, support our military. Clinton's dismantling of our military was a terrible move. And yes, our soldiers should be treated as heros.

It is hard to put into words the appreciation I have for those men and women who are willing and able to take the battle to the enemy. There has been so much nonsense about President Bush that it has clouded the mission. World War II was very hard. Getting rid of the Islamic Facists will be harder. It is hard to look at a Soldier who has just come back from Iraq or Afganistan without feeling a lot of pride in what makes America special.

DEFINITELY Support our Military -- I am a Military Retiree, and my siblings are STILL Serving -- so this is MUCH MORE than Support -- we Volunteered and have LONG and HONORABLE Service behind EACH of us.

Yes, Clinton did a LOT of HARM to America -- not only in regards to the Military, but in MANY other ways as well.

And yes, I feel a special sense of pride (and safety) from hearing the roar of our Military Planes taking off, hearing the sounds of weapons being tested, hearing and seeing Military Training Missions, etc etc etc.

I love our military and have had family in every war this country has ever fought. Back before this was a country. They all came back decorated. They all came back alive. I think Halliburton and every owner of a private company profiteering on the blood of our American troops should be tried for treason and executed. I hate the way our troops are being mismanaged. I support taking over the whole damn world if that's what the US citizens want, it's out democracy and our army, but I'm not fighting to make some Saudi Carlyle group lapdogs (bush) and enemies of democracy (islamic fascists) wealthy by the blood of our people (and theirs, though i don't care as much) The country with the most new millionaires is the UAE, Cheney makes millions, Americans die. Where is our cheap safe oil huh? Where is our security? 9/11 occurred on Bush's watch after they cut back our patrols in August of American borders by fighter plane. After they ignored everything Clinton did to reduce Bin Laden and nuclear threats like North Korea. Bush has intentionally tired to undo everything not only Clinton did for this country and the world, but everything every enlightened leader has done in the past 50 years at least. Why are we selling nuclear secrets to India? Why are we letting Yemen buy our ports? They have trashed our US constitution and bill of rights. That's treason. We have troops without food, armor, or water. I can quote a US general on that "The Iraq war is mismanaged." So when our generals tell our administration theyâ€™re a bunch of greedy idiots, who do you love, then? Hey remember how the GOP rallied and moaned over Clinton bombing our 'allies' the Taliban and that um, 'baby aspirin' factory in Sudan he bombed. Remember that - I think it was in the news for like a year with people shouting 'wag the dog'? Hey remember when Prescott Bush - W's granddaddy made hundreds of thousands selling engines to the enemy in WWII until he was formally convicted by congress? Why don't you do the research and find out, in America our government documents are opened to public inspection. You donâ€™t know that, so Iâ€™m pretty sure you didn't grow up here. If the army makes you happy then enlist.
By the way, if you love our military more than anything else then you should always vote for a veteran, particularly a decorated Combat veteran of one of our great wars - WWII, Korea, or Vietnam over someone who didn't serve. Or at least youâ€™ll vote for someone who went to the war versus stayed here in the USA, since war has you shaking in your Nikes right? Well you should be voting pretty much straight democrat then. If it were not for President Bush inheriting what Billy (I like young interns) Clinton) do nothing goals, and our military fighting in the middle East, we would be fighting them here in the USA. When i visit veterans hospitals and see veterans sitting in there own poop because there are no nurses to change them because republicans cut there funding I get very angry. When our children are coming back with no legs arms and eyes and republicans who have none of there children there vote to decrease there pay I get very angry. When we are at war based on lies to congress I get very angry and when I see people who use lies to support people who DONT support our troops I get very angry. REPUBLICANS RAN CONGRESS when they CUT THE milatary after THE COMMUNISTS LOST POWER IN RUSSIA to use this as a statistic is just the same old sleazy lies. Fort Lewis , Washington ...Fort Hood , Texas ... Fort Knox, Kentucky...This would also to be including ALL of their families ( as well as ours ) My Family is all over Texas and Oklahoma and My Husbands is in New Hampshire and Illinois ... I support the military, Clinton screwed a lot of things up while he was in office but lets not forget congress had some say in things too.
I believe everyone who wears a uniform and goes into combat for his/her country is a hero.

I SUPPORT MY MILITARY! And I'm proudly serving. And don't kid yourself, it wasn't just Clinton that reduced the troops, due to budget cuts, I get to go to work every day wondering if I'm going to get orders saying "you are out of here" because there are too many in this branch, and not enough in another. I believe that soldiers are heroes as are Marines, Sailors and Airmen. And I don't think Clinton would have invited the illegal immigrants to stay, from what I've seen that is what Bush is doing. But then again that is my oppinion.

I support our military 100%, I'm ex-military. But I disagree with them being in Iraq 100%, they are just doing their job. It's our President's fault for sending them there. I take offense to people saying we can't leave Iraq because "our soldiers will have died for nothing". That's total bull****, any time one of our military people dies in performance of their duty it is an honorable thing. You can't blame them for why they are sent to do their jobs.

Show of hands for who supports the military... as if a show of hands is true support of the military.

I am sorry, but saying you support the military does not make it so. All of you who said yes - how many of you have actually committed an act of support? I am not talking about putting a silly little ribbon on you SUV. I am talking about sending care packages, volunteering at wounded soldier recovery stations, inviting a soldier over for the holidays - or the greatest support of all, volunteering to stand by their side in the U.S. Military.
