Iraq is being called the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today All the humanitarian Agencies agree that there are over a million people who have died above the normal death rate before the invasion .and since another million starved to death because of the sanctions that makes it even worse than it sounds Also the surrounding countries Syria Lebanon,Jordan ,Iran .are being left to deal with 4 .25 million Iraqi refugees who have fled the violence .America was warned what would happen if they invaded but they chose to take no notice .
I wonder if half these people who justify whats been done by saying Saddam was an evil dictator who was killing thousands actually understand that the mass killing was way back in the 1980s with the full knowledge of the west and done with the weapons that America was happy to sell him |

Seriously. Anybody with half a brain cell at the time would have told you that toppling Saddam would be the easy bit, the real battle would be winning over the Iraqi people and keeping the competing factions (Shia, Sunni and Kurds) together.
Which we, sadly, completely failed at. |

Huh? What war are you talking about?
There was a brief third-generation war 4 1/2 years ago in Iraq, followed immediately by a fourth-generation war that has persisted as that type always does. Perhaps that's what you're asking about. By its very nature, that sort of war takes a decade or two and requires the local government stand or fall on political grounds. That government in Iraq, now 1 1/2 years old, has made good progress in some areas but none in others, and compared to historical norms, things are muddling along about like others. |

No one ever said the war was over. A victory was declared.
That victory was declared because we had defeated an evil dictator.
The war on terror still wages on. |

Sometimes I just can't believe people. Since you are "trying" to ask an intelligent question...be more intelligent.
Do some historical research on what happened when the U.S. pulled out completely from Vietnam. Millions were murdered and more were starved to death. This is what will happen if the U.S. pulls completely out of the Mid East. This and much more.
More intellectual honesty and less rhetoric would do you some good. |

What war do you think was over in 2001? |

The war was not over. The Mission was accomplished, but the war was not won. War is complex. Often there are three stages to conquest: invasion, occupation, and colonization. The invasion went swell. The occupation is taking longer than expected. |
