North Korea, has and will continue to push as far as they can. Their method of international relations is to be confronting, and never reasonable.
The North does not want a war they know they can't win.
Since Stalin is dead and the Chinese will not use their military to prop them up, the North can not possible win a shooting war with anyone.
The North, the pirates, Cuba, and many others will continue to test Obama as long as he appears soft.

The UN and North Korea are still technically at War, the only thing stopping it from continuing is because neither China or America want to fight each other over it, it wouldn't be pretty for anyone.

The fact of the matter is North Korea's inner circle knows attacking South Korea is attacking the US (by way of them killing 80+% of the 1-2 HBCT stationed in Camp Casey and the various enclaves) which means either they'll end up on trial, dead, or poor refugees in China because the US will generate a forceful response with our Pacific Fleet and Air Force. Pretty much the only thing the US couldn't do to North Korea at will would be crossing the 38th parallel with troops because we don't want another Chinese "Volunteer" Army showing up.

This isn't anything new. North Korea has done the same exact thing with a ballistic missile in 2006, and he always says the Ulchai Focus Challenge/Lens and Key Resolve Exercises are "Acts of Agression". They are like a 6 year old child, they'll make trouble for attention whenever they feel neglected.

The only way there would be war between the north and the south would be if the military overthrew the Oligarchy, then declared war for some derranged reason.

I think that socialized medicine you guys have have clouded your brain some. NATO has nothing to do wih the Korean Peninsula. I think you probably meant the UN.

That being said, the original war never ended and there have been continuing aggression both in words and military action going on ever since the so called cease fire. Also, this isn't the first time they've throen out the inspectors and restarted a reactor....incidentally of which, it will take a year to do due to the level of dismantlement.

I give it until the winter when they have food shortages again for them to come back to the table with concessions. It is a vicious cycle with the Kim Komedy Hour.

BTW, why has no one said anything about the US female journalists that the DPRK is putting on trial for espionage?

NATO will never go to war with North Korea. NATO is inept at confronting situations head on, but I guess that the world didn't like our "cowboy diplomacy" eh? Well, be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

The UN on the other hand, possibly. Of course, it's still technically only a cease fire.

Even if war does break out don't expect much help from the European allies. The British are overstretched in Afghanistan, France is only interested in Africa, Germany are too pacifist and Italy and Spain can't fight.
